A new research published today in the Journal of the American Heart Association, an open access, peer-reviewed journal of the American Heart Association says some oral bacteria were associated with the development of hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, in postmenopausal women.

High blood pressure is typically defined by two measurements: systolic blood pressure (the upper number measuring pressure when the heart beats) of 130 mm Hg or higher, and diastolic blood pressure (the lower number indicating pressure between heart beats) of 80 mm Hg or higher.
