Foreign Medical Graduates Flag Two-Year Internship Delays; Seek NMC and Govt Action

Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) in Tamil Nadu are allegedly waiting for up to two years to secure a Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI) seat.

NEET SS 2025 Counselling: MCC Adds 9 Seats, Removes 2

The Medical Counselling Committee has issued an urgent notice revising the seat matrix for Round 2 of NEET SS Counselling 2025, adding new super-speciality seats across multiple institutes while withdrawing certain seats from a Telangana hospital. Candidates have been advised to review the updated seat matrix carefully before filling their choices for the counselling process.

According to the revised matrix, new seats have been added in Surgical Oncology at Guru Hospital, Paediatric Surgery at Government Medical College Kota, Urology at Moti Lal Nehru Medical College, and three super-speciality courses at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, including Surgical Gastroenterology, Clinical Haematology, and Nephrology, according to Shiksha.

Meanwhile, two DNBSS Neonatology seats at Fernandez Hospital have been withdrawn from the counselling process. The revised seat matrix is expected to influence choice filling and seat allocation in Round 2, particularly for candidates seeking high-demand super-speciality courses.

Fortis Shalimar Bagh Negligence Case: Delhi HC orders NMC, DGHS Inquiry Into Doctors' Qualifications

In a recent development in a nearly decade-old alleged medical negligence case, the Delhi High Court has ordered a fresh inquiry into whether two doctors involved in the treatment of a child at Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh, possessed the qualifications required to practise as neonatal specialists.

The case relates to allegations that lapses in treatment resulted in the child suffering severe and irreversible brain damage, ultimately leaving the patient in a permanent vegetative state.
