ICMR launches national registry of multiple sclerosis and allied demyelinating disorders
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has launched a National Registry of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Indian Multiple Sclerosis and Allied Demyelinating Disorders Registry and Research Network (IMSRN).
Multiple sclerosis is a neurological disorder typically affecting young individuals between the ages of 20 and 40 years, but may also occur in children and adolescents.Females are affected more by this disease than males.
Conversion Therapy" for LGBTQIA should be considered as ProfessionalMisconduct by doctors
In a major move that might put a stop to the practice of "Conversion Therapy" on LGBTQIA+ community, the Madras High Court has directed the National Medical Commission (NMC) for enlisting it as professional misconduct.
The court issued this direction to NMC as it took note of the submission by the petitioner's counsel, who referred to various suggestions about the conversion practices and the scope of prohibiting such practices. Reference was also made to the Legislation that is available in two other countries in this regard and also to the United Nations report of the Independent Expert on protection against violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
