Show-cause notices to 100 medical colleges

Attendance shortfall of faculties is still a matter of concern for the medical colleges as the National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued show-cause notices to 100 medical colleges across the country as the faculties in those institutes failed to meet the 75% attendance criteria.

The list of colleges that received the show-cause notice from the Apex Medical Commission also includes a few colleges in Bengaluru. All these medical colleges have been given 15 days to reply to the notice, failing which they will face punitive action.

Drug alert: CDSCO flags 78 drug samples, including Alkem's Pan 40

In its latest drug safety alert, the apex drug regulatory body, Central Drug Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has flagged 78 medicine batches for failing to qualify for a random drug sample test for December– 2023.

These include Montelukast Sodium and Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride Tablets manufactured by Bonsai Pharma, Multi-Vitamin Tablets (VITAJACKS-S TABLETS) manufactured by Jackson Laboratories, Telmisartan and Amlodipine Tablets IP (Zensartan-AM Tablets) manufactured by Windlass Biotech Limited, Telmisartan Tablets IP 40 mg (Telmibeck-40 Tablets) manufactured by Biocore Pharmaceuticals, Pregabalin Capsules IP (Pragavir Capsules) manufactured by Mayoford Pharma.

NMC seeks stakeholder feedback on NExT exam conduct

Amidst the debate and uncertainty regarding the conduct of the National Exit Test (NExT), the National Medical Commission (NMC) has now made the issue open to all the stakeholders.

Through a recent notice, the Apex Medical Commission has asked the stakeholders to submit their feedback on the NMC National Exit Test Regulations, 2023, by 07.02.2024.
