Delhi: Tihar doctor 'caught' smuggling drugs into prison, held
A dentist has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle marijuana inside the Tihar Jail in west Delhi, police said.
Information was received on Wednesday from Tihar Jail officials about the recovery of tobacco and ganja (marijuana) from one inmate Vikas Jha and visiting dentist Dr Varun Goel, a senior police officer said.

PG Medicine Abroad: NMC Applies To WMFE Seeking Global Recognition For Indian Medical Colleges
Providing good news and hope to the Indian medical students who want to study further in the United States of America (USA), the National Medical Commission (NMC) has recently made an application to the World Medical Education Federation (WMFE) seeking its recognition, which is a mandatory criteria for the medical graduates for pursuing their further studies in the USA and appear in the United States Medical Licentiate Examination (USMLE) for postgraduate training.
This comes as a sigh of relief to the Indian Medical Graduates who are planning to move abroad for further studies because from 2024, the students who would apply for the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification must be a student or a graduates from an institute which is duly accredited by a WMFE recognised regulatory body.

NMC Extends Deadline, Asks Medical Colleges to Validate NEET PG, SS Seats And Courses
Extending the deadline for validating the data regarding the number of Postgraduate medical seats (NEET PG and NEET SS) in the institutes, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has directed the principals of the medical colleges to complete the process of verification within August 8, 2022.
Issuing a notice in this regard, the Deputy Secretary of NMC PG Medical Education Board has advised the colleges to strictly adhere to the deadline, failing which "it will be understood that the College/Institute has no objection to the data displayed on the website," stated NMC.

NEET 2021: High Court Directs Maharishi Markandeshwar Medical College To Redraw MBBS Merit List
Observing that the Maharishi Markandeshwar Medical College (MMMC) had admitted three students while violating the NEET UG 2021 merit list, the Himachal Pradesh High Court recently directed the college to redraw the merit list of the admission to the MBBS course in respect of mop up round counselling.
Such a decision has been taken by the court after a dental student approached the court and claimed that she had been denied admission while three management quota students had been upgraded for the State quota seats even though they scored lesser marks than the petitioner in the medical entrance examination.
