Tralokinumab, corticosteroids helpful in AD

Atopic dermatitis (AD), is a common chronic or recurrent inflammatory skin disease and affects 15-20% of children and 1-3% of adults worldwide. Cyclosporine A (CSA) is a popularly used in AD, but treatment with CSA has potentially serious adverse effects. Smoking cessation reduces CVD risk

A population study by Su-Min Jeong and the team revealed that smoking cessation, but not reduction, reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Also, a sustained cessation of smoking reduced stroke and mortality chances. The findings of the study are published in the European Heart Journal.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), smoking cigarettes increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), stroke, respiratory problems, etc. Tobacco use is the most common preventable cause of death however reduction doesn't help its risk factors. Su-Min Jeong and the team, therefore, aimed to assess the association of smoking cessation and reduction with the risk of cardiovascular disease.

DPN causes cognitive decline

A recent study has highlighted the association between diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) with lower cognitive performance in people with type 2 diabetes (T2D) of f <10 years of known duration. DPN was found to be inversely and significantly associated with measures of immediate recall and processing speed. The study was published in the
Journal of Diabetes and its Complications
on 15 September 2021.

There is a lack of studies examining measures of cognition are related to DPN presence and/or cardiovascular autonomic neuropathy (CAN). Also, data regarding actors potentially explaining such associations are lacking. To fill this knowledge gap, Joshua I. Barzilay, Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA, USA, and colleagues recruited participants from the Glycemia Reduction Approaches in Diabetes Study (GRADE) that examined 5047 middle-aged people with type 2 diabetes of <10 years of known duration.
