ESIC Medical College and Hospital Faridabad invites applications for PhD Admission in Biomedical Sciences for 2023-24, Details

Faridabad- Through a recent notification, ESIC Medical College and Hospital, Faridabad has announced the application for PhD program in Biomedical Sciences for the session 2023-24.

The detailed schedule is as follows-

Last date of receipt of online applications- 10-02-2024 (Saturday).

Date of written examination- 22-02-2024 (Thursday).

Dates for the interviews and document verification of the shortlisted candidates- 29-02-2024 (Thursday).

Declaration of results- This will be communicated in due time.

Application Fee-

For all other candidates- ₹225/-

For SC/ST/PWD/Department candidates/Female candidates & Ex-serviceman- No fees.

The advertisement has explicitly instructed that the fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. Only Demand Draft drawn on any Scheduled Bank will be accepted. Application Fee paid by any other mode will not be accepted. The Demand Draft must be issued after the date of issue of this advertisement. A soft copy of the Demand Draft should be enclosed with the online application.

Fees for enrollment in the Ph.D. program-

Academic Administration Fees- Rs. 5,000 per semester.

Laboratory Fees- Rs. 6,000 per semester.

Tuition Fees (1st & 2nd Semester Only)- Rs. 6,000 per semester.

Medical Fees*- Rs. 3,000 per semester.

Student Amenities- Fees Rs. 1,000 per semester.

Caution Money- Rs. 5,000 (once, at the time of admission, refundable).

Thesis Examination Fees- Rs. 10,000 (at the time of submission of thesis).

Application process-

The application form and details are available on the website mentioned in the advertisement. Application form can be downloaded, filled and uploaded by the applicants through the given Google form link in the advertisement. All necessary self-attested documents should be enclosed in this link along with the application form. A soft copy (Word/ Excel format) of the filled and signed application form along with self-attested copies (PDF/JPEG format) of mark sheets and certificates in support of academic qualifications should be sent to the given email ID on or before 10-02-2024.

As per the advertisement, “Any false/ incorrect information in the application form or inappropriate qualifications detected at any stage of the selection process will lead to disqualification of the candidate. The decision of the Competent Authority, ESIC Medical College and Hospital, Faridabad shall be final in this regard”.

Eligibility criteria-

For medical candidates, they must have MBBS/BDS or MD/MS/MDS/DM/MCh from medical institutions recognised by the Medical Council of India (National Medical Commission) in the relevant subject are eligible to apply.

For non-medical candidates, they must have a Post Graduate/Master's degree (two-year course) such as M.Sc., M.Tech or equivalent degree awarded by Indian Universities or equivalent are eligible to apply.

Non-medical candidates who have preferably qualified for one of the following National Entrance Tests in the last two years (July 2021 to July 2023), leading to the award of a fellowship will be given special weightage. Candidates need to upload a self-attested valid proof of award of the qualifying fellowship through online and offline modes of the application process

Candidates who possess a Master's degree through distance education courses are not eligible for the course.

Additionally, a medical candidate must have a 55% aggregate score or equivalent grade and 60% for non-medical candidates in the qualifying degree examination.

Fellowship-

Successfully enrolled candidates for the PhD degree programme are subject to fellowship as per the ICMR standard.

Selection procedure-

In the selection process, candidates will be called for a written examination at Library Hall, Academic Block, ESIC Medical College and Hospital, NH-3, NIT, Faridabad. The written examination will be conducted for 1 hour with 25 MCQs and 4 marks will be allotted for each question. One mark will be deducted as a negative mark for each incorrect answer. The syllabus will be as per the standard of the University Grants Commission (UGC). Successfully ranked candidates from the merit list will be called through email for personal interviews and document verification. The final list of selected candidates for the PhD programme will be published on the official website mentioned in the advertisement as well as in the Notice Board of Academic Block, ESIC Medical College and Hospital, Faridabad.

The advertisement also mentions that Medical facilities will be made available only for the student pursuing a PhD degree and not for their family. Lastly, ESIC has also mentioned an email ID, in case if any candidate has any queries regarding the admission to the course.
