Aiming to commence admitting students from 2023, the staff had been directed for working on the hostel and library facilities meant for the college students. Apart from this, the Health Department had been directed by NMMC for arranging regular review meetings for keeping a check on the work of the college launch.

It was the NMMC's plan to initiate courses in three phases. As per the Corporation's plan, Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedic, Gynecology and Paediatric branches would commence from the first phase.

As per the latest media report by Free Press Journal, these branches were chosen on the basis of a report of the Committee set up under the chairmanship of additional commissioner Sanjay Kakade.

Regarding this, NMMC has now decided to fins a separate place and make arrangements for an administrative complex and a hostel.

Apart from this, the MBBS doctors, who will pursue their studies in the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Science will have the opportunity of work at NMMC Hospital in Vashi and Nerul.

While commenting on the development, Abhijit Bangar, the municipal commissioner told the daily, "This is an effort to provide super specialty facilities like Surgical Intensive Care, Medical Intensive Care, Pediatric Intensive Care, Emergency and Trauma Services in the Municipal Hospital. Through this, the health department of the corporation will be empowered and the citizens of Navi Mumbai will be provided better quality health facilities in the municipal hospital."

Referring to the MOHFW nod for the PG medical college, he told FPJ, "The stress is being given to complete the administrative and health department paperwork."
