ICMR Invites Application For Centenary Post Doctoral Fellowship, Check out Details

Delhi: Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has invited applications for ICMR Centenary-Post Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) from the fresh PhD/MD/MS within three years of completing their PhD/MD/MS degree (awarded) as the last date of the application and also those who have received their provisional PhD/MD/MS degree.

The results of ICMR-PDF 25th Batch and 26th Batch and the list of ongoing ICMR-Centenary PDF as of 30th September 2029 were also released. The detailed results and list are enclosed in the notice below.

The candidates can apply till 28th February 2023. The applications will have to be submitted in the format provided with all enclosures and as per the eligibility criteria (only hard copy) to Sh. Kishor Toppo, TO-C at R. no. 423, 3rd floor, ICMR Hqrs. New Delhi. Late and incomplete applications will not be considered further. "Application for ICMR CENTENARY –Post Doctoral Fellowship" should be written on the envelope containing the application form. The format of the application form is enclosed in the notice below.

The process to apply –

1. The candidates need to download the attached form and fill it with signatures as required.

2. No column of the application form should be left blank. Kindly write NA/Nil as applicable.

3. Use additional sheets where necessary, with relevant columns drawn thereon, inserting proper references.

4. All the requisite documents should accompany the completed application.

5. The candidates are requested to go through the 'checklist' of documents given below before applying. Incomplete applications are liable to be rejected.

6. Attach self-attested photocopies of all documents as required.

Item No.1 – The name given here should be the same as in your matriculation/ higher secondary certificate and degree certificates. If there is a change, addition or deletion, an affidavit from a Notary public/Magistrate is necessary.

Item No.9 - If grades are awarded, please attach the sheet that converts grades to the percentage of marks.

Item No.11 - Specializations may be indicated in terms of – Subject, Broad Area(s) of specialization and Exact areas(s) of specialization.

Eligibility -

1. Fresh PhDs/MD/MS within three years of completing their Ph.D./MD/MS degree (awarded) as on the last date of the application, and also those who have received their provisional PhD/MD/MS degree can apply. A degree copy is to be submitted on the last date of the application form.

2. The Post Doctoral proposed research work should continue the PhD or MD/MS research work. If not, then the application will not be considered.

3. PDF Guide should have the minimum designation of Scientist-C grade.

4. Postgraduate medical students are also permitted to carry out ICMR's PDF in MCI-recognized postgraduate medical colleges wherein a minimum of three batches have obtained their postgraduate degrees.

5. ICMR PDF is open to Indian nationals only.

Tenure -

1. Two years only and extendable for one more year based on outstanding performance and recommendations by the Director/Officer-in-Charge of the concerned ICMR Institutes/ Centers.

2. If the PDF leaves before completing one year, the applicants will have to refund the fellowship drawn by them from the date of joining to the date of leaving the fellowship.

Maximum Age Limit -

1. 32 years, relaxable up to 5 years in case of SC/ST/OBC/PH and women candidates, as on the last date of application (30th June and 31st December).

2. For deserving candidates, the age can be relaxed up to a maximum of 3 years based on earlier work done, publications, awards etc., along with the request by sponsoring Director/Director-in-Charge. Director General, ICMR may consider and relax on the screening committee's recommendation.

Remuneration - 

1. ICMR PDFs will be paid a consolidated fellowship of Rs. 65,000/- per month w.e.f. 31-07-2020 (Order No. 1/2/2020-Admin-II, Dated 31-07-2020) plus House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per Govt. of India rule, Non-Practicing allowance (NPA) as permissible and a contingency grant of Rs. 3.0 lakhs per annum.

2. 25% of the contingency grant can be used for travel, including per diem expenses (only for National travel, related to ICMR-PDF proposed research work only).

Mode of Selection -

1. Selection of the "ICMR Centenary Post Doctoral Fellows" will be made through the interview of short-listed candidates by a specially constituted Selection Committee by DG, ICMR, based on their publications, citations and impact factor.

2. The place of the interview will be ICMR Hqrs. New Delhi.

3. Eligible candidates must route their applications through the sponsoring ICMR Institutes/ Centers. Applicants from abroad may also be considered absentia if eligible and found suitable by the Committee.

Accommodation and other benefits -

1. Accommodation may be provided by ICMR Institutes/Centers if available. However, in such cases, HRA will not be paid.

2. ICMR PDFs will be entitled to medical benefits and leave as per the ICMR rules for JRF/Research Associates.
