ICMR NIIRNCD invites applications for internship, dissertation training programme, check complete details
New Delhi: The ICMR NIIRNCD is inviting applications from eligible postgraduate students for Internship/Dissertation Training for a period of 6 months. This program provides structured research training in the field of Biomedical Research and Public Health.
ICMR- National Institute of Implementation Research on Non-Communicable Diseases (NIIRNCD), Jodhpur is an Apex research Institute under the aegis of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India.
In this regard, ICMR-NIIRNCD has released an official notification detailing the application process, selection process, Internship/Dissertation Programme Details, important dates, Responsibilities of the Parent Institution/University/College, etc. The details of the Dissertation Programme are given below-

APPLICATION PROCESS
1 Interested candidates are required to submit the application form. There is no application fee for submitting the application form.
2 The candidate must submit the duly filled application Form attested and endorsed by the Head of the Institution/Department. Applications without official endorsement/attestation will not be considered.
3 Along with the application form, applicants must include-
i A brief Curriculum Vitae (CV).
ii A mandatory 500-word Statement of Purpose (SOP) indicating research interest and motivation.
SELECTION PROCESS
1 All submitted applications will undergo screening and scrutiny to assess eligibility, academic merit, and relevance to NIIRNCD research domains.
2 Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria and are shortlisted will be required to appear for an online interview as part of the selection process.
3 The shortlisted candidates will receive an online meeting link for their interview at the email address provided in their application form. Please note that no requests for a change in the interview date and time will be entertained.
4 The results will be declared on the official website, and no further communication via email shall be entertained in this matter.
5 All selected candidates must ensure that the Programme fees are paid in full before the stipulated joining deadline. Failure to complete the payment within the prescribed time frame will result in forfeiture of admission.
INTERNSHIP/DISSERTATION PROGRAMME DETAILS
1 Each selected student will be assigned a mentor and shall work exclusively under the guidance of the assigned mentor.
2 Lecture Sessions: Conducted by ICMR–NIIRNCD scientists covering core domains such as Community Medicine, Public Health, Biotechnology, Information Technology in Healthcare, Statistics, Sociology, and other relevant fields.
3 Journal Clubs and Seminars: Organised regularly to promote interactive learning, critical thinking, and knowledge sharing among participants.
4 Participants will receive an ICMR-NIIRNCD, Jodhpur Certification of Completion after successful evaluation.
5 Students are required to present their research work and submit a dissertation/internship report at the end of the training for evaluation and feedback.
6 Candidates are encouraged to prepare and publish manuscripts with the assistance and guidance of their assigned mentors.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PARENT INSTITUTION/UNIVERSITY/COLLEGE
1 Provide official details of selected students, including training duration on their official letterhead.
2 Designate a College Coordinator as the official point of contact with our Institute.
3 Inform our Institute about the authorised leave permitted to students during the Internship/Dissertation period.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE INTERNS
1 ADHERENCE TO RULES- Strictly follow all rules and regulations of the ICMR Institute.
2 WORK COMPLIANCE- Perform assigned research work as per the schedule provided at the beginning of the training programme.
3 ACADEMIC OFFICER INSTRUCTIONS- Follow all directions given by the Academic Officer regarding assigned tasks.
4 CONFIDENTIALITY- Maintain strict confidentiality of all research and patient-related data. Access to such information must be obtained only with prior permission.
5 CONDUCT AND DISCIPLINE- Maintain proper manners and decorum during the internship. Misconduct may result in termination without prior notice.
6 TIMINGS- Adhere to the prescribed official timings. Leave may be granted only after the approval of the competent authority.
7 PERMISSION FOR LEAVING PREMISES- Do not leave the ICMR Institute premises during official hours without prior approval.
8 UNDERTAKING SUBMISSION- Submit a signed undertaking in the prescribed ICMR format before commencement of training, accepting responsibility for any damage or misconduct.
9 LIABILITY FOR DAMAGES- Any damage to the Institute’s property will be penalised, and recovery will be made from the concerned intern.
20 DATA PRIVACY- Do not collect, reproduce, publish, or circulate any clinical or research data or materials from the Institute in any form (photocopy, photograph, video, or digital) without prior written permission.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1 Each selected student will be assigned a mentor and shall work exclusively under the guidance of the assigned mentor.
2 A minimum of 80% attendance is mandatory for the successful completion of the program.
3 The number of seats may be increased or decreased at any moment by the approval of the competent Authority.
4 Candidates are encouraged to prepare and publish manuscripts with the assistance and guidance of their assigned mentors only.
5 Each selected candidate will be required to present one paper every week as per the Journal Club schedule.
6 A weekly lecture series will be conducted by an ICMR Scientist as part of the academic program.
7 Students must strictly adhere to all laboratory rules, regulations, working hours, and safety protocols.
8 Hostel and guest house facilities are not available at present. The selected candidates must make their own accommodation arrangements. Requests for guest house accommodation will not be entertained.
9 Students are required to present their research work and submit a dissertation/internship report at the end of the training for evaluation and feedback.
10 No financial support, stipend, hostel, boarding, or lodging facilities will be provided. Students must arrange their own stay and related expenses.
11 ICMR–NIIRNCD reserves the right to terminate the engagement of any student at any stage in case of non-compliance with the rules and regulations or for any other reason deemed appropriate by the Institute, without assigning any reason.
12 Canvassing in any form and at any stage will lead to the direct disqualification of the candidate.
