JIPMER amends PhD Revised Guidelines, Check out exemption, eligibility criteria details
Puducherry- Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has amended the exemptions and eligibility criteria of PhD Revised Guidelines (2020).
According to the official circular issued in this regard, JIPMER has informed that after considering the requests received from the faculties of JIPMER, the competent authority has approved certain amendments in the PhD Revised Guidelines (2020) with immediate effect.
AMENDMENT NO 1- EXEMPTION FROM ENTRANCE EXAMINATION FOR IN-SERVICE CANDIDATES
1 In-service candidates applying for part-time PhD programs are hereby exempted from the entrance examination to encourage faculty participation in research.
2 Non-faculty staff members are required to qualify in the entrance examination in their respective specializations.
AMENDMENT NO 2- ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR PhD GUIDES
1 As per revised guidelines 2020 for PhD, a guide (PhD or Postgraduate qualification) must have more than three years of postdoctoral teaching/research experience while working as an Associate Professor in this institute.
2 As per UGC guidelines, even a faculty with a minimum of five years of postdoctoral teaching/research experience as an Assistant Professor with a PhD degree are also eligible to guide research scholars. In alignment with this criterion, the pool of eligible guides will be expanded to facilitate more PhD admissions in JIPMER.
3 The current PhD guidelines (2020) require at least five original research publications/ with at least three publications in the last three years for the prospective guide. However, as per UGC guidelines, at least three research publications in peer-reviewed or refereed journals shall be recognized as a guide in the case of Assistant Professors with a PhD. JIPMER shall adhere to this standard.
