Puducherry: All the candidates who are seeking MBBS admission at AIIMS Madurai can now check out all the admission details released by the institute for this academic year session 2021-2022.
National Testing Agency (NTA) National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination (NEET) scores will be the basis for admission to AIIMS Madurai campus and the counselling will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India (GoI) for AIIMS Madurai.
The Medical College of AIIMS Madurai will commence temporarily from Ramanathapuram Government Medical College, Tamil Nadu till the main campus of AIIMS Madurai comes up. Subsequent to seat allocation by MCC, the candidates shall report to JIPMER Puducherry (Mentor Institute of AIIMS Madurai) as per the notifications of MCC and JIPMER. Admission will be provisional subject to complete verification of identity and documents. the candidates are advised to refer to the list of original documents to be brought at the time of admission for verification.
Information about Duration of MBBS course at AIIMS Madurai:
The duration of the MBBS course is 4 years and 6 months followed by ONE year of Compulsory Rotatory Internship for the award of the Degree.

- The normal duration of the course excluding the internship period is 4 and ½ years.
- ATTEMPTS - If a student does not qualify/pass MBBS 1st Professional Examination in 3 attempts (Regular & Supplementary) and 2nd /3rd /4th Professional Examination in 04 attempts i.e. 02 regular plus 02 supplementary Examinations (for all subjects) for each phase, then the name of such students will be struck off from the rolls of the Institute. However, in case such rules are modified at any time the appropriate rules shall apply.
- Each student is required to attend 75% or more of all the scheduled theory and practical classes separately to be eligible to appear in the Professional Examinations held at the end of each phase. There is no condonation of attendance.
- Weightage for internal marks – will be notified later
- Passing in the previous Phase is compulsory before proceeding to the next Phase of training.

50 (Fifty) seats for Indian Nationals are available for admission to MBBS course. The policy of reservation of Government of India is applied at AIIMS (details in the table below). A 5% reservation for Person with Benchmark Disability (PWBD) as per provision of Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 shall be provided on horizontal basis.

The number and distribution of seats may vary depending upon the periodic directives / decisions from the competent authority and Government of India.
Definitions of categories
Unreserved (UR):
A candidate who is an Indian national satisfying the requirement of eligibility as prescribed by the NTA NEET 2021 Information Bulletin is eligible under this category.
Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer) [OBC]
Reservation for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) shall be according to the rules of the Government of India.
Applicants are required to ensure that he/she does not belong to the persons/ sections (Creamy Layer) mentioned in Column 3 of the Schedule to the Government of India, Department of Personnel & Training O.M. No. 36012/22/93-Estt. (SCT) dated 08/09/93 which is modified vide OM No. 36033/3/2004 Estt. (Res.) dated 09/03/2004 or the latest notifications of the Government of India (i.e. Central list) in support of his/her claim. The OBC certificates issued from 1st April, 2020 (inclusive) and start of reporting of Round1 of MBBS counselling schedule to be notified by (Medical Counselling Committee for MBBS admission) will be considered valid.*
OBC-NCL Certificate must be in the format as mentioned in the NTA NEET 2021 Information Bulletin.
Please note that OBC – creamy layer candidates are NOT eligible under this category.
Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST):
Reservation for SC/ST candidates will be according to the rules of Government of India. Applicants will be required to produce the necessary certificate in the format provided. During counselling the certificate as prescribed in M.H.A., O.M., No. 42/21/49-N.G.S. dated the 28.1.1952, as revised in Dept. of Per-& A.R. letter No. 36012/6/76-Est. (S.CT), dated the 29.10.1977, to be produced by candidate belonging to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe in support of his/her claim. SC/ST Certificate must be in the format as mentioned in the NTA NEET 2021 Information Bulletin.
Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs):
Reservation for EWS shall be according to the rules of the Government of India.Applicants who are not covered under the scheme of reservation for SCs, STs and OBCs and whose family has gross annual income below Rs. 8.00 lakh (Rupees eight lakh only) are to be identified as EWSs for benefit of reservation. Income shall also include income from all sources i.e. salary, agriculture, business, profession, etc. for the financial year prior to the year of application.
Also, persons whose family owns or possesses any of the following assets shall be excluded from being identified as EWS, irrespective of the family income:
1. 5 acres of agricultural land and above;
2. Residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. and above;
3. Residential plot of 100 sq. yards and above in notified municipalities;
4. Residential plot of 200 sq. yards and above in areas other than the notified municipalities.
The property held by a "Family" in different locations or different places/ cities would be clubbed while applying the land or property holding test to determine EWS status. The term "Family" for this purpose will include the person who seeks benefit of reservation, his/her parents and siblings below the age of 18 years as also his/her spouse and children below the age of 18 years. Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD):
The eligibility of candidates to pursue a course in medicine with specified benchmark disability shall be in accordance with NTA NEET 2021 Information Bulletin.
In accordance with the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, 5% seats of the annual sanctioned intake capacity shall be filled up by candidates with benchmark disabilities, based on the merit list of Entrance Examination 2021. For this purpose the Specified Disability contained in the Schedule to the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 is annexed in APPENDIX-1. The candidate must possess a valid document certifying his/her physical disability. The disability certificate should be certified by a duly constituted and authorized Medical Board of the State or Central Govt. Hospitals/Institutions. All PWBD candidates shall be evaluated by a Medical Board of the Institute to determine eligibility.
If any candidates submit the false information / forged certificates will be subjected to prosecution. If it is confirmed, their candidature will be cancelled.
Admission Process:
The counselling for admission to MBBS courses in AIIMS Madurai campus will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India based on the NTA NEET 2021 All-India scores.
Admissions to the MBBS course is subject to the verification of certificates and payment of fees on reporting for admission at JIPMER Puducherry. COVID-19 vaccination certificate is mandatory as per the order of the Director of Health and Family Welfare Services, UT of Puducherry (vide Order No. Misc./Emergency order/12/2021 dated December 04, 2021 (the candidates should have taken at least one dose of vaccine).
The candidates should bring the following at the time of admission within the stipulated time period, failing which, admission will be denied:
- All the certificates in original (as given in the list below)
- One set of self-attested photocopies of all the certificates
- Six Passport size recent colour photographs
List of certificates to be submitted at the time of admission:
1. Identity proof (as mentioned in the NTA NEET 2021 Information Bulletin).
2. Admit Cards of Exam issued by NTA.
3. Result/ Rank letter issued by NTA.
4. Provisional allotment letter generated on-line.
5. Proof of Date of Birth (Birth Certificate or X Std. Certificate).
6. Pass Certificate of the qualifying examination.
7. Statement of marks of the qualifying examination.
8. Character and Conduct Certificate from the Head of the Institute last studied.
9. In case of Other Backward Classes/ Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe, a Community Certificate, recently obtained from the competent authority – (as mentioned in the NTA NEET 2021 Information Bulletin)
10. Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) candidates should produce the required Income & Asset Certificate as (as mentioned in the NTA NEET 2021 Information Bulletin)
11. Transfer Certificate from the Head of the Institution last studied.

13. Medical Certificate from the authorized-centres as listed in the NTA NEET 2021 Information Bulletin in case of PwBD Candidate.
Note: If the certificates are in a language other than English, an English translation of the certificate attested by a Gazette Officer should be produced.
- Those candidates who joined MBBS course at AIIMS, Madurai, his/her original certificates will be retained and the same will not be returned to the candidate before completion of the course.
- If a candidate is withdrawing his/her seat before or after issue of the admission order, a penalty of Rs.5,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand) will be imposed and fees paid will not be refunded, unless he/she is found medically disqualified.
- If a candidate who joined MBBS course, leaves the said course in between, shall be liable to pay a sum of Rs.5000/- (Rupees Five Thousand only) by way of compensation/losses incurred by the AIIMS due to such midstream departure.
All candidates should report within the time period mentioned in their 'allotment letter', failing which, they will forfeit the right to admission. At any time, if the competent authorities find that admission was sought based on false/ incorrect information/ documents and suppression of relevant facts, educational qualification or quota, the admission offered or the admission already completed shall be cancelled, irrespective of the stage of study of that course. Further, legal proceedings will also be initiated against such candidates for such action/(s). Hence, candidates are warned against indulging in such action(s), in their own interest. All parents are also requested to make note of the above provision, and take due care and diligence, in all matters concerning admission to the courses.
ADMISSIONS TO THE MBBS COURSE SHALL BE REJECTED IN THE FOLLOWING SITUATIONS (including but not limited to):
1. Candidates who fail to fulfil the prescribed age limit criteria as per NTA NEET 2021 Information Bulletin.
2. Candidates who fail to obtain the minimum stipulated marks in the qualifying examination (as mentioned in the NTA NEET 2021 Information Bulletin).
3. Candidates who have applied under Non-Creamy Layer OBC Category and whose sub-caste is NOT listed in the current Central OBC List and whose certificate has NOT been submitted in the prescribed format from the Competent Authority.
4. The candidates who have applied under SC/ST Category WITHOUT valid Certificate as in the prescribed format from the Competent Authority.
Fees & Other Payments
The following fees should be paid by the candidates through Demand Draft taken in favour of AIIMS Madurai payable at Puducherry immediately after you have been declared medically fit by the Medical Board of the Institute. Fee once paid will NOT be refunded under any circumstances.

The above payment is to be made through Demand Draft. Please note that online, Cards, Cheques, etc. will not be accepted under any circumstances.
Other annual and Examination fees structure will be intimated later.
Hostel facilities
1. All students can avail a common hostel accommodation subject to availability.
2. Separate Hostels are available for boys and girls.
3. Hostel Accommodation is meant for outstation candidates.
4. Application for accommodation in the hostels should be in the prescribed form along with the assurance by the parent or guardian for the good conduct and behaviour of the candidate during his/her stay in the hostel. Allotment of the hostel will be on first-cum-first-serve basis.
5. The hostel fee structure is as detailed above in the table.
6. Each student residing in the hostel has to pay a caution deposit of Rs. 1,000/-, which will be refunded after making deductions, if any, at the time of vacating the hostel room.
7. Mess facility is available. A deposit of Rs.500/- should be paid towards advance.
8. If a student is found occupying a hostel room but staying elsewhere, the room allotment will be forfeited and a suitable penalty will be levied on the student.
Annual payment / Charges for accommodation. Charges will not be refunded, when the student is evicted from the hostel in between.
Delay in payment of Academic / hostel fees will attract fine and hall ticket for the subsequent Professional examination will be withheld.
