New Delhi- Medanta the Medicity, has invited applications for a Minimally invasive Neurosurgery fellowship for the academic year 2024-25. In this regard, Department of Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery has released a complete brochure detailing the fellowship categories, application process and other details regarding the fellowship programme.

The fellowship incorporates a comprehensive experience for fellows involving a wide spectrum of diseases affecting pediatric and adult age groups which are tackled specifically with endoscope and minimally invasive techniques.

The Department of Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery (MINS) is going to conduct a Fellowship Program for the academic year 2024-25. In this regard, MINS has released a complete brochure detailing the fellowship categories, application process and other details regarding the fellowship programme.

The Fellowship Program for the academic year 2024-25 is categorised into 4 categories namely Neuro-oncology for 6 months/1 year, Minimally invasive Spine surgery for 3/6/12 months, Endoscopic skull base for 6 months/1 year and Grand MINS fellowship for 1year.

APPLICATION PROCESS AND ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

1 Two positions are available every 6-8 months.

2 The candidate must have an MCh Neurosurgery degree or DNB or equivalent from the respective country.

3 Interested candidate can send their resume to the Email IDs mentioned in the brochure.

4 Along with a 250-word essay stating why we should pick you and about yourself.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

1 Achieve clinical expertise in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of spinal disorders in adults and children.

2 Assume progressive, graded responsibility in the surgical management of patients.

3 Achieve clinical expertise in endoscopic surgeries and minimally invasive brain surgeries.

4 Participate, and thereafter take the lead, in the operative management of patients.

5 Experience a broad exposure to clinical evaluation and appropriate patient selection for operative and non-operative management in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.

6 Assume progressive, graded responsibility in the surgical management of patients.

7 Participate, and thereafter take the lead, in the operative management of patients.

8 Develop research skills that will provide future groundwork for an academic practice.

9 Submission of one clinical paper to an international conference.

10 Submission of two manuscripts for peer review.

11 Fellows will learn the practice “survival skills” critical to the management of a spine and brain surgery practice, including marketing, contracting, proper medical/legal documentation, billing & collections, and second opinion & medical/legal opinion skills.

12 Develop leadership qualities.

13 To prepare individuals for a strong, competitive community private practice.

14 The Fellowship emphasizes not only surgical skills, but also the clinical skills necessary to have successful surgical outcomes: precise diagnosis, appropriate conservative care prior to surgery, and proper judgment regarding patient selection.

15 To attend and present at national and international conferences.

16 To teach or conduct Classes for DNB residents.

17 To observe and learn the proper Neurorehabilitation programs for better patient outcomes.

18 Cadaver lab for basic learning of MISS.

19 Cadaver lab for basic learning of Endoscopic Skull base.

WORK SCHEDULE

1 Rounds begin sharp at 0800 hours daily.

2 AS a fellow you will have rotations between OT and Ward.

3 During OT week your focus will be on being in OT and scrubbing for cases.

4 During Ward week you are expected to know the patients in the ward so that the art of postop management is not lost and we can train you not in just intra-op but pre-op and post-op management as well. During this period the fellow will be on call.

5 Usually the rotation is one week ward with three weeks of OT.

After successful completion of the program, a certificate of completion will also be given to the candidate.
