1 MD Community Medicine seat at Agartala GMC reserved for PwD NEET PG candidate: DME Tripura
Tripura- The Director of Medical Education (DME) Tripura has released a notification regarding the National Eligibility and Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET PG) counselling 2024.
In its notice the DME mentioned that as per the PwD reservation policy, there is a 5% horizontal reservation of PwD seats subject to registration of PwD candidates. Therefore, with this, out of 3 nos. of MD Community Medicine seats one UR seat will be reserved for PwD candidate at Agartala Government Medical College. However, other remaining seats stated in the seat matrix shall remain the same.
Meanwhile, as per the information bulletin on NEET PG Counselling 2024, the reservation of seats in Medical Colleges/Institutions for respective categories shall be as per applicable laws prevailing in the State of Tripura. The SC, ST, EWS, WESM (Certificate approved by Director of Sainik Welfare, Agartala, Tripura) and PwD reservation will be followed as per existing guidelines of NMC/MCC/BOG/Government of Tripura/Government of India.
Horizontal reservation of seats for eligible PwD Candidates with benchmark disabilities as per guidelines shall also be provided in the seat matrix after registration for the 1st Round of Counselling (if any such candidate is registered). Reservation of seats for postgraduate degree (MD/MS) Courses and Diploma Courses will be distributed as per the 100-point Roster and existing Rules/Guidelines/Notifications/Orders/Memo of the Government of Tripura.
The Directorate of Medical Education under the Health & Family Welfare Department, Govt. of Tripura started its functioning on 15th October 2011. This Directorate deals with matters relating to Medical Education, like Medical Colleges, Regional Pharmacy Colleges, Nursing Colleges in Government and Private Sector, Nursing Education, Paramedical Education etc. The postgraduate courses in respect of some medical colleges are conducted by this Directorate.
