AIIMS Invites Online Applications For INI CET January 2024 Session, Apply Till 5th October
Delhi: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has invited online applications for the Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test (INI-CET) January 2024 for admission to PG courses [MD/MS/M.Ch.(6years)/ DM(6years)/MDS] of AIIMS, New Delhi and other AIIMS, JIPMER Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru, PGIMER Chandigarh & SCTIMST Trivandrum.
The candidates can carry out the registration process till 05.10.2023 (by 5:00 pm). All applicants who have applied earlier and whose basic registration has been ACCEPTED are not required to complete registration and basic information again. They will have to complete the application form only after the Generation of the Examination Unique Code (EUC Code).
Editing of registration and basic information after the last date of editing, editing of registration and basic information will not be allowed. All the candidates who have completed their basic registration under the OCI category are required to make a new, fresh basic registration for the January 2024 Session, previous registration of OCI category candidates will not be accepted.
The status of registration and basic information and the last date of correction of rejected images will be carried out from 06.10.2023 to 07.10.2023 (by 5:00 pm). The final status of accepted registration and basic information will be released on 08.10.2023 (by 5:00 pm).
Generation of Examination Unique Code (EUC) [only for accepted registration and basic information - previous EUC code not valid for January 2024 session], completion of application form (only for the candidates who have generated EUC code), and Editing of completion of application form (change of category will not be allowed after payment of registration fee in any circumstances) will be done from 27.09.2023 (05:00 pm) to 13.10.2023 (05:00 pm).
Uploading of valid Certificate/Card: SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/EWS/PwBD certificate and OCI Card can be done from 27.09.2023 (05:00 pm) to 05.11.2023 (05:00 pm). The OBC (-NCL) certificates should have been issued between 06.11.2022 to 05.11.2023 (date of Exam), both dates inclusive. The EWS certificate must be valid for the financial year 2023-2024 and issued between 01.04.2023 to 05.11.2023 (on or before the date of the Exam), both dates inclusive based on the income of the year 2022-2023.
The status of completion of the application form & last date of submission of required documents can be carried out from 17.10.2023 to 18.10.2023 (05:00 pm). The final status of online registration and uploading of the admit card on the AIIMS website will be done on 30.10.2023. The examination will be held on 05.11.2023, across all cities in India.
The last date of receiving the application form duly recommended & forwarded with “No Objection Certificate” from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India for Foreign Nationals to apply and appear in the INI-CET for PG courses –January 2024 session is 03.11.2023 (by 05:00 pm).
The last date to upload a scanned copy of the sponsored certificate in the completion of the application form is 03.11.2023 (by 05:00 pm). The expected date of declaration of INI-CET Results is 11.11.2023. The online seat allocation, including the open round of seat allocation, will be notified separately. The date of starting of courses is 01.01.2024. The last date of admission is 29.02.2023.
For candidates requiring correction in registration & basic candidate information OR completion of application form, the edit panel will be available as per schedule only. It may kindly be noted that the editing shall be done only by the candidate. The candidate will be responsible for all corrections. No corrections are allowed after the closing date of editing. Applicants may note that further correspondence will not be entertained in this regard.
All applications for which fees are not paid will be summarily rejected, and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
Application Fee -
The application fee is to be paid at the time of application for the INI-CET, January 2024 (Completion of Application) in online mode. The application fees are mentioned in the table below:

Applicants seeking reservation/relaxation benefits available for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD must ensure that they are entitled to such reservation/relaxation. They should be in possession of all the requisite certificates in the prescribed format in support of their claim and upload the same within the due dates.
Applicants seeking admission into postgraduate seats reserved for sponsored/foreign nationals should upload/submit relevant documents within due dates. Sponsored/Foreign National candidates are not eligible for General Seats (for UR/SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD/Rural Area/Karnataka Domicile/North East Domicile) & vice versa.
All information, as well as access to processes related to INI-CET, will be done through its online portal. The portal for INI-CET can be accessed from www.aiimsexams.ac.in>>Academic Course Tab >>and clicking on INI-CET. The applicants are requested to visit the site frequently to keep themselves updated with the latest information. The access and different components of the application process will be enabled/disabled as per the dates specified in the Important Dates Tab.
Eligibility for appearing in INI-CET –
For Indian Nationals -
Indian Nationals shall include candidates who are citizens of India
A candidate must possess an MBBS degree for MD/MS/DM-6yrs/MCH-6yrs and a BDS degree for MDS courses of a University recognized by the National Medical Commission/Medical Council of India as notified by Govt. of India and Dental Council of India, respectively and must have completed the required period of 12 months compulsory rotating Internship/Practical training on or before 31st January 2024 for all INIs. [For Dental courses, candidature will be as per DCI endorsement No.DE- 130-2011/B-4978, dated 13.12.2011, DCI Revised BDS Course (4th Amendment) Regulation-2011 published in Gazette notification (Extraordinary) Part-III, Section-4, dated 9.12.2011]. Candidates who complete their internship after 31st January 2024 are not eligible for Registration in this examination.
A candidate may be eligible for admission into any INIs or only at some specific INIs depending upon fulfillment of eligibility criteria applicable to respective INIs (details in Part B of Prospectus of respective INIs). Making Seat Choices & order of preference after the declaration of result will be allowed provisionally as per applicable eligibility criteria of admission into respective INI.
Minimum Marks in MBBS/ BDS or equivalent Examinations.
The Indian National, who has obtained an eligibility degree in India, must have obtained a minimum of the following marks (aggregate of all professional MBBS/BDS professional examinations) -
1. For candidates belonging to the SC/ST Categories, 50% marks in aggregate
2. For all other categories, including OBC/EWS Category, 55% marks in aggregate
3. For Persons with Benchmark Disabilities [PWBD] candidates, the minimum aggregate as provided in (a) and (b) will be applicable for the category to which the candidate belongs shall apply
For Sponsored Candidates (Indian National) -
The eligibility of Sponsored Candidates with respect to the minimum marks in aggregate in all the MBBS/BDS professional examinations will be the same as for candidates as mentioned above in points (ii)a, (ii)b, and (ii)c as applicable.
Sponsorship Certificate: It is mandatory to upload a valid Sponsored certificate in the Completion of Application on or before closing dates as mentioned in the Important Dates Section of PART-A. Please note that candidates must have to submit an original sponsored certificate at the time of admission, failing which, their candidature will be canceled.
For Indian National graduated from Foreign Universities -
For Indian National candidates who have graduated from foreign Universities, marks obtained in the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) conducted by the National Board of Examination (NBE), shall be considered in lieu of aggregate marks. The eligibility criteria of minimum marks shall remain as mentioned above in points (ii)a, (ii)b, and (ii)c as applicable.
In case it is found that an applicant who does not fulfill the eligibility qualification/criteria (such as Internship Completion dates etc.) has provided false information solely for appearing in the examination, the applicant’s candidature will be canceled, and the candidate may be liable to be debarred from appearing in INI-CET Entrance examination in future at the discretion of the competent authority.
For Foreign Nationals -
Foreign Nationals shall include candidates who are NOT citizens of India.
A candidate must possess an MBBS degree for MD/MS/DM-6yrs/MCH-6yrs and a BDS degree for MDS courses and must have completed the required period of 12 months compulsory rotating Internship/Practical training on or before as per mentioned in Part A of Section – IV at Page-4.
Candidates are required to obtain a certificate of grading system from the applicable University/ Institution to determine the value of grading in percentage. The marks calculated accordingly must be filled in the “Marks Column” for Completion of Application for the January 2024 Session of INI-CET before the due date.
The eligibility of applicants with respect to the minimum marks in aggregate in all the MBBS/BDS professional examinations will be 55% aggregate or equivalent.
No Objection Certificate (NOC)Foreign National: The No Objection Certificate (NOC) obtained from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, should be submitted to the Examination Section on or before dates as mentioned in the Important Dates Tab. Kindly note that no objection certificate obtained solely from the Ministry of External Affairs is NOT considered a valid NOC for INI- CET.
For Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)/ PIO -
Eligibility of OCI/PIO candidates will be based on the decision of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (Civil) 891 / 2021 dated February 03, 2023.
Candidates born before 04.03.2021 and who have secured the OCI card before 04.03.2021 shall be considered INDIAN NATIONALS and will be eligible ONLY for open category (unreserved) seats for INDIAN NATIONALS. They will not be eligible for consideration for seats for Foreign Nationals.
OCI/PIO card holders who are not to be considered as Indian Nationals based on the decision of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (Civil) 891 / 2021 dated February 03, 2023, shall be considered as FOREIGN NATIONALS. They will not be eligible for consideration for seats for Indian Nationals.
OCI candidates are not required to obtain NOC, however, they must upload the scanned copy of their OCI card on or before the date(s) mentioned in the Important Dates Section of Prospectus Part-A. The earliest issued, valid OCI card must be uploaded on the portal. Any attempt at hiding a valid older OCI card or uploading only a newer card will be considered as providing false information, and the candidature may be canceled.
Seats available for admission into postgraduate courses for the January 2024 Session of various INIs
The seats available for admission into postgraduate courses in participating INIs for the January 2024 session are of two types -
Seats available for all Indian Nationals (excluding sponsored and Foreign National seats) -
A consolidated list of seats available for admission into postgraduate courses in participating INIs for the January 2024 session of various INIs will be prepared and published by the Examination section, AIIMS New Delhi, on the basis of official information received from respective INIs. The INI-wise list received from various INIs shall be accessible from the Seats Available Tab of the INI-CET portal. These lists are subject to change as per the decision of respective INIs and shall be updated as per information received by the Examination Section, AIIMS, New Delhi. The list of seats available shall not be changed after the declaration of the results. The updated consolidated list of available postgraduate seats for seat allocation (INI-wise and specialty-wise) for the January 2024 session shall be published before the declaration of results.
Seats available for Sponsored and Foreign National -
The list of INI-wise and Specialty-wise available seats for Sponsored and foreign Nationals will be accessible through the Seats Available Tab on or before starting of “completion of application” as per mentioned in the “Important dates Tab”.
Miscellaneous (Sponsored & Foreign National candidates) -
Seats are advertised for PG courses for different departments under 2 groups Open and Sponsored/Foreign National only.
The number of seats advertised under Open and Sponsored/Foreign National for various PG courses in respective departments are not interchangeable/convertible unless expressly mentioned in Prospectus Part-B of respective INI and are applicable as per rules at respective INI.
Cities for appearing in Examination -
1. The INI-CET, January 2024 session is planned to be conducted in around 100 to 135 cities spread across India.
2. The list of cities will be available during the Completion of the Application for INI-CET, in January 2024 after the payment of fees.
3. The applicants are required to indicate his/her choice of three cities (in order of preference) for appearing in the examination.
4. The allocation of cities for taking the examination will be based on the Completion of the Application (first come-first allotted) and the availability of computer nodes in the city. Applicants are therefore advised to complete the process of application at the earliest without waiting for the last date.
5. The choice of cities made by the applicant cannot be changed after submission or during the Completion of the Application. The applicants should therefore make choices with utmost care.
Admit Card –
The Admit Card for INI-CET will be available online only and can be downloaded from the link available at “MyPage” after logging in using the Registration ID, Password, and Exam Unique Code (EUC) at the Completion of Application Zone for INI-CET January 2024. The Admit Card will be downloadable as per the schedule mentioned. Admit Cards will be issued only to the applicants who have completed all the Stages of Application Form for INI-CET January 2024.
Mode and Scheme of Examination -
The examination for INI-CET January 2024 will be conducted in a computer-based test (CBT) mode.

The percentile scores in INI-CET will be used to determine eligibility for admission to postgraduate seats in all participating INIs. The minimum percentile cut-off required for applicants will be as follows -
1. For seats under Unreserved (UR) [including Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)], EWS, Sponsored & Foreign Nationals will be 50th percentile.
2. For OBC, SC, ST, PwBD, and Bhutanese Nationals (PGI-Chandigarh only) seats will be 45th percentile.
Resolution of Tie Cases -
In cases where more than one candidate secures equal MARKS, the tie will be resolved by applying the following criteria sequentially, i) less negative marks and ii) Older by age.
Seat allocation - The seat allocation for the available postgraduate seats in participating INIs shall be done online mode only. The seat allocation shall be conducted for at least Two (2) Rounds followed by an Open Round. Additional Rounds of seat allocation may be done before the Open Round if needed. The detailed time schedules will be announced in due course of time. For 1st and 2nd Round of seat allocation, qualified candidates will be called for Seat Allocation from the list of eligible candidates for admission.
The seat allocation shall be done in order of merit, choices made by the candidate, and as per the reservation policies of individual INIs with regards to Institutional Preference, Community reservation (OBC, SC, ST, EWS, etc.), and PwBD as applicable, through a process of Institute-wise Synchronization of Seat Allocation (In SAS).
