New Delhi: With the ongoing registration process for NEET 2022, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for applicants.

The candidates can apply till 07 May 2022 (up to 11:50 PM).

The Entrance Test shall consist of 200 multiple choice questions (four options with a single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology). 50 questions in each subject will be divided into two Sections (A and B).

The duration of the Examination will be 200 minutes (03 hours 20 minutes) from 02:00 PM to 05:20 PM (IST).

NEET (UG) – 2022 will be conducted in 13 languages i.e. English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs) for NEET (UG) – 2022 

Section I (Changes for NEET (UG) – 2022

Authentication of Mobile Number and e-mail Address : When Candidates register, they have to enter the OTP received at their registered Mobile Number, and before submitting the fees, they have to enter the OTP received at their registered e-mail address

Correction Facility : A correction facility may be given. The schedule will be intimated later on the website.

Choice of Cities : The Choice of exam cities will be displayed to the candidates based on the permanent and Present address filled in the Online Application Form. A total of approximately 557 cities as per Appendix-VI have been added where NEET (UG) – 2022 will be conducted. 112 Aspirational districts have also been included in this list.

Parents/Guardian Income details : Family Annual Income (inclusive of Father's/ Guardian's Gross Annual Income, Mother's/ Guardian's Gross Annual Income, and Annual Income of Father's/ Mother's/ Guardian's from other sources, if any) is a mandatory field. 

E-mailing the Confirmation page, Scanned copy of OMR, and Scorecard : A copy of the Confirmation Page, a Scanned copy of OMR, and a copy of the Score Card will be sent to the registered e-mail address of the candidates

SANDES Application : Candidates are requested to download and install the 'SANDES' Application on their smartphone as a secondary channel (apart from SMS/E-mail) to receive notifications from NTA.

Online Application Form : For ease of the candidates, Application Form has been upgraded so that candidates can fill the Application Form in small sections. The updated process is as below -

 Step 1 - Registration Form

 Step 2 - Application Form And this includes filling of personal details, applying for examination cities, qualification details, additional details (ifany), and document upload)

 Step 3 - Fee Payment.

Photograph of the Candidate : A provision has been explored for cross-checking the photograph in real-time while filling in the Online Application Form. 

AADHAAR Number  : A column/field has been added in the Online Application Form for capturing the AADHAAR number of the candidates and it will be on a voluntary basis. 

Use of Scribe : Scribe will be provided by the NTA as per the norms

Umang and DigiLocker : NTA is facilitating all candidates with an additional platform of UMANG and DigiLocker to download their documents like Confirmation Page, Admit Card, Score Cards, etc. Umang App: You can download UMANG Mobile Application from Android Play Store or Apple App Store. Open Mobile Application and search for National Testing Agency (NTA). Select your examination and enter the desired details. Example: Select NEET (UG) 2022 -> Enter Application Number & Date of Birth ->Download Confirmation Page. DigiLocker:You can download DigiLocker Mobile Application from Android Play Store or Apple App Store. Open Mobile Application and search for National Testing Agency (NTA). Select your examination and enter the desired details. Note: The demographic information (Aadhaar Name, Date of Birth, Gender) will be matched with the data filled by the candidate. On a successful match, the candidate will be able to download the requested document. Example: Select NEET (UG) 2022 -> Select Year and Enter Application Number -> Download Confirmation Page.

Blockchain Technology : NTA has planned to deliver NEET – 2022 Score Cards using Blockchain Technology along with IIT Kanpur, NIC & NeGD (DigiLocker) for delivering globally verified and tamper-proof scorecards. Using the issued Score Cards candidates can instantly prove the authenticity of the qualification. 

Negative Marking : There will be Negative Marking for both Sections i.e. Section A and Section B

Timing/Duration of Examination : The duration of the Examination will be 200 minutes (03:20 hours) from 02:00 PM to 05:20 PM (IST) and shall be uniform for all candidates.

Tie-Breaking rules : The inter-se-merit of candidates for tie-breaking: In case of two or more candidates obtaining equal marks/percentile score in the NEET (UG) - 2022, the inter-se-merit shall be determined as follows:

1. Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the Test, followed by,

2. Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Chemistry in the Test, followed by,

3. Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Physics in the Test, followed by,

4. Candidate with less proportion of the number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects in the Test,

5. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the Test, followed by

6. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Chemistry in the Test, followed by

7. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Physics in the Test, followed by

8. Candidate Older in Age, followed by

9. Application Number in ascending order

Left and Right-Hands Impression : Candidates need to upload their both Left and Right hands impressions of Fingers and thumb as per Appendix XXIV.

Fee for Challenge  : Applicants will be given an opportunity to submit representation against the OMR grading by paying a non-refundable processing fee of ₹ 200/- per question challenged Candidates will be given an opportunity to make an online challenge against the provisional Answer Key by paying a non-refundable processing fee of ₹ 200/- per answer challenged, within a specified period.

Section-II (General Queries)

What is NEET (UG)?

The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) (UG) is being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) since 2019 with the approval of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (which is now known as the Ministry of Education), for admission to the undergraduate medical education in all medical institutions, including those governed under any other law in force.

What is the responsibility of NTA for, NEET (UG) - 2022?

The NEET (UG) - 2022 is going to be conducted by NTA as per the Schedule given in the Information at a Glance for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, and BHMS Courses as per the relevant norms/guidelines/regulations notified by the concerned Regulatory Bodies. The responsibility of NTA is limited to inviting online applications, the conduct of the entrance test, declaration of the result, and providing All India Rank (AIR) to the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. 

When will the Online Application form for NEET (UG) – 2022 be available on the website? 

The Online Application Form for NEET (UG) - 2022 is available from 06.04.2022 to 06.05.2022 (up to 17:00) on the website https://neet.nta.nic.in/. 

When will NEET (UG) - 2022 Examination be conducted?

17 July 2022 (Sunday)

Whether the examination will be offline or online? 

NEET (UG) – 2021 is a Pen & Paper-based Test, that needs to be answered on the speciallydesigned machine gradable OMR sheet using Ball Point Pen

How to fill up the 'Online' Application Form for NEET(UG)- 2022? Are there any guidelines for the students before filling out the application form?

Yes, instructions to apply online for NEET (UG) - 2022 are available in the Information Bulletin under the heading 'Important Information at Glance'.

Is a Thumb Impression mandatory while filling NEET (UG)-2022 Application?

Candidates need to upload their both Left and Right hands impression of Fingers and Thumb impressions as per Appendix XXIV in the online Application Form of NEET (UG) - 2022. 

What should I do, if 'continuous timeout' or 'file not found error' occurs while filling the online Application Form of NEET (UG)- 2022?

Use an updated version of Google Chrome/Mozilla Firefox and a good internet connection while filling out the Application Form. In case of continuous-time out clear cookies and history of the browser and fill in off-peak hours.

Can Candidates require to send/submit any document(s) including Confirmation Page to NTA through Post/ Fax/ By Hand?

No. Candidates are not required to send/submit any document(s) including Confirmation Page to NTA through Post/Fax/WhatsApp/Email/by Hand.

Is it mandatory to upload Gen-EWS, SC, ST,OBC (NCL), and PwD certificates? 

Yes, Gen-EWS/SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwD candidates are required to upload original certificates as per prescribed formats issued by the Competent Authority of their respective State. In case, any candidate does not have the certificate readily available to him/her, he/she can upload theself undertaking as available in the Information Bulletin.

Will NTA reserve its discretion to fix the center in a city which is given in Appendix-I? 

As far as possible, the exam centres are allotted as per the choice of cities of the candidates made in their online Application form. Efforts are made to allot the centre as per their choice (s) and within city jurisdiction. However, due to administrative/logistic reasons, a different city may be allotted.

Can a center be allotted by the NTA manually?

No

In case, the Candidate has uploaded a Blue Signature instead of a Black Signature in the application form of NEET (UG) - 2022. Is it okay?

No, your Application Form will not be rejected merely for this mistake. 

Is there any helpline for the aspirants for the NEET (UG) - 2022 examination?

Can the Candidate correct/change his/her particulars including the City of Exam Centre in the Online Application Form?

As per the instructions given to the candidates for filling up their Online Application Form, they are supposed to fill up their particulars in the same care and NTA is not responsible for any mistake committed by them in this regard. 

How to download the previous year's question paper for NEET(UG) Examination?

Can anyone cancel the application submitted for NEET (UG) - 2022?

Online Application forms once submitted successfully cannot be cancelled/ withdrawn.

Can anyone submit the multiple Application forms with the same mobile no. and Email ID?

For each Application, the e-mail address will be unique.

Is it mandatory to fill in the Parents/Guardian Income Details? 

Yes, Family Annual Income (inclusive of Father's/ Guardian's Gross Annual Income, Mother's/ Guardian's Gross Annual Income, and Annual Income of Father's/ Mother's/ Guardian's from other sources, if any) And it is a mandatory field.

How will the Candidate get the Confirmation Page of the NEET (UG) - 2022?

The Confirmation Page of the online Application Form will be generated only after successful payment of the fee by the Candidate. A copy of the Confirmation Page of NEET (UG) - 2022 will be sent to the registered e-mail address of the Candidates

If one does not get Admit Card, whom should be contacted?

The Candidates may please note that Admit Cards will not be sent by post. The candidate has to download the Admit Card from the NTA website https://neet.nta.nic.in/. For any assistance, candidates can call the NTA Helpline numbers: 011 40759000 or 011 69227700 or write to NTA at: neet@nta.ac.in

Can a candidate change the examination center after the allotment of roll number?

City of allotted Examination Centre cannot be changed, in any case.

Note: Choice of exam cities displayed to the candidates will be based on the permanent and correspondence addresses filled during the Online Application Form of NEET (UG) – 2022.

What documents need to be uploaded during the online application form? 

Candidate has to upload the scanned images of the following in JPG /PDF format only, for uploading the same as part of the submission of his/her online application:

 Latest Passport size Photograph in JPG format (size: 10 kb to 200 kb)

 Post Card size photograph (4" X 6") in JPG format (Size: 10 kb - 200 kb)

 Signature in JPG format (size: 4 kb to 30 kb)

 Left and Right Hands Fingers impressions in JPG format (file size: 10 kb to 200 kb). Format for Left & Right hands impression to capture both hand impressions of the candidate for NEET 2022.

 Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS etc.) in PDF format (file size: 50 kb to 300 kb)

 PwD certificate in PDF format (file size: 50 kb to 300 kb)

 Embassy/Citizenship certificate in PDF format (file size: 50 kb to 300 kb)

What do the candidates need to bring to the exam center? 

The candidate will be required to bring the following to the Examination Centre:

 Admit Card along with Self Declaration (Undertaking)

 Additional passport size photograph same as uploaded on Application Form, which you need to paste on Attendance Sheet

 One Postcard size (4''X 6") color photograph affixed on the designated space (page 2) downloaded from the NTA website (a clear printout on A4 size paper) with white background should be pasted on the Proforma downloaded with the Admit Card and should be handed over to Invigilator at the Centre duly filled in

 Any Valid Photo Identification Proof issued by the government" – PAN card/ Driving License/ Voter ID/ 12th Class Board Admits or Registration card/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card (With photograph)/ EAadhaar/Ration Card/ Aadhaar Enrolment No. with Photo. All other ID/Photocopies of IDs even if attested/scanned photo of IDs in mobile phone will NOT be considered as valid ID Proof),

 Personal transparent water bottle.

 Personal hand sanitizer (50ml).

 Before reaching the Centre, the candidates must enter the required details in the Undertaking in legible handwriting.

 You need to carry PwD Certificate, if applicable

Note: A candidate who does not bring the downloaded proforma with a postcard size (4"X6") photograph pasted and one passport size photograph will not be allowed to sit in the examination and shall lead to his/her disqualification. Please refer to Information Bulletin for details.

What do the candidates not allowed to bring to the exam center?

 You are NOT ALLOWED to carry any personal belongings including electronic devices, mobile phones, and other banned/ prohibited items listed in the Information Bulletin to the Examination Centre. Examination Officials will not be responsible for the safe keep of personal belongings and there will be no facility

What do the candidates need to follow Advisory regarding COVID 19?

You need to follow the Advisory regarding COVID-19 as given below:

 Practice Social distancing;

 Mandatorily use N-95 masks being provided at the Centre.

 Use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers (for at least 20 seconds) can be made, wherever feasible.

 Strictly follow respiratory etiquette. This involves the strict practice of covering one's mouth and nose while coughing/ sneezing with a tissue/ handkerchief/flexed elbow and disposing of used tissues properly;

 Self-monitor health by all and report any illness at the earliest;

Will any candidate be able to leave early if he finishes the test before the allocated test time? 

No, the candidate will not be allowed to leave the examination hall/room before the test concludes.

How to download and install the SANDES App on Mobile Device?

You need to follow the Advisory regarding COVID-19 as given below:

The SANDES APP can be downloaded and installed on Mobile devices. The steps to download/install this app are as follows:

 Visit the Google Play Store on your Mobile Device.

 Search for the "Sandes App" in the search bar.

 It then displays the app in the play store.

 Click on Install, and then the app gets downloaded to your mobile.

 Now, mobile users can enjoy the services of the Sandes Mobile App. 

Is it mandatory to download and install the SANDES App?

Candidates are requested to download and install the SANDES application as a secondary channel to receive time to time notifications/updates from NTA. 

Whether NTA has changed the syllabus of NEET (UG) - 2022? 

No, the syllabus of NEET (UG) - 2022 is the same as that of the last year. The syllabus is available in the Information Bulletin available on the website https://neet.nta.nic.in/ Please do not be misled by false information and fake Notice.

Is there any Negative Marking in the NEET (UG) - 2022?

There is negative marking in both Sections i.e. Section A and Section B. 

What is the duration/timing/shift of NEET (UG) - 2022?

Duration, Shift & Timing of examination is available at Important dates (IMPORTANT INFORMATION AT A GLANCE) in the Information Bulletin of NEET (UG) - 2022. Please refer to Information Bulletin for details.

How will one know the result of the NEET (UG) - 2022? 

The result of NEET (UG) - 2022 will be uploaded on the NTA website www.nta.ac.in and https://neet.nta.nic.in/ as per schedule. However, a copy of the Scorecard of NEET (UG) – 2022 will be sent to the registered e-mail address of the Candidates

Section - III Eligibility Criteria

What is the minimum eligibility criteria/qualification for appearing in NEET (UG) - 2022?

The students who have received education abroad and wish to seek admission into medical colleges in India must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English with 50% marks in class 12 and their equivalency is determined by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) as per regulations of the Medical Council of India and the concerned University.

What is the Eligibility for 15% All India Quota seats?

Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), and Foreign Nationals are eligible for 15% of All India Quota Seats.

Is a candidate who has passed class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English subjects from NIOS, eligible to appear for NEET (UG) - 2020?

Candidates who have passed Class 12 from Open School or as private candidates shall not be eligible to appear for the 'National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test'. Furthermore, the study of Biology/Biotechnology as an Additional Subject at the Class 12 level also shall not be permissible.*

*The candidates who have passed class 12 level with Biology as an additional subject will also be eligible for MBBS Entrance Examination (as per Hon'ble High Court Order No. 2341/-W/DHC/WRIT/D-1/2019 dated 24/09/2019 in the Writ Petition (C) No. 6773/2019

The proviso in italics has been the subject matter of challenge before the Hon'ble High Court of Delhi, Hon'ble High Court of Allahabad, Lucknow Bench, and Hon'ble High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Jabalpur. The provisions of the regulations disqualifying recognized Open School Board candidates and the candidates who have studied Biology/Biotechnology as an Additional Subject has been struck down. The Medical Council of India has preferred Special Leave Petitions before the Hon'ble Supreme Court and Appeals in the Hon'ble High Courts. Therefore, the candidature of candidates in the NEET (UG)- 2020 who have passed the qualifying examinations i.e. 10+2 from the National Institute of Open Schooling or State Open Schools or as private candidates from recognized State Boards; or with Biology/Biotechnology as an additional subject shall be allowed but subject to the outcome of Special Leave Petitions/Appeals filed by the Medical Council of India)

What are the Qualifications to appear in the Test? 

To be eligible for NEET (UG) – 2021, candidates need to refer to the Qualifications and Qualifying Examination Codes mentioned in Para 5.4, chapter 4 of the Information Bulletin of NEET (UG) - 2021. Those candidates who have passed class XII should fill Code [02 to 07] against the column provided for the Qualifying Examination. If a candidate does not fall within the qualifications prescribed as per Code numbers 02 to 07, then the candidate needs to furnish complete details under the column 'others'. Candidates appearing in Class 12 in 2021 should select a qualifying code as 01. 

What are the age limit/relaxation criteria for the candidates appearing in NEET (UG) - 2022?

Eligibility for appearing in NEET (UG) is as per related Regulations is as follows: -

i. He/she has completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete that age on or before 31 December of the year of his/her admission to the first year of Undergraduate Medical Courses.

ii. The upper age limit for NEET (UG) is 25 years as on the date of examination with a relaxation of 5 years for the candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC-NCL category.

How do I accept the choice of attempting Ten Questions in Section B and what will be the pattern of the Question paper and OMR sheet?

The Entrance Test shall consist of 200 multiple choice questions (four options with a single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology). 50 questions in each subject will be divided into two sections (A and B) as per the details given below: Section A shall consist of 35 (Thirty-five) Questions in each subject (Question Nos – 1 to 35, 51 to 85, 101 to 135, and 151 to 185). All questions are compulsory. Section B shall consist of 15 (Fifteen) questions in each subject (Question Nos – 36 to 50, 86 to 100, 136 to 150, and 186 to 200). In Section B, a candidate needs to attempt any 10 (Ten) questions out of 15 (Fifteen) in each subject. Candidates are advised to read all 15 questions in each subject of Section B before they start attempting the question paper. In the event of a candidate attempting more than ten questions, the first ten questions answered by the candidate shall be evaluated.

What will be the medium of the Question paper?

Medium of Question Paper:

• Candidates opting for English would be provided Test Booklet in English only.

• Candidates opting for Hindi/Regional Language would be provided Bilingual Test Booklet i.e. in Hindi/Regional Language and English. In case of any ambiguity in the translation of any of the questions, its English version shall be treated as final.

Whether the NEET (UG) - 2022 will be held in a different medium?

Yes, drawing from the National Education Policy (NEP), the NEET (UG) - 2022 will be conducted in Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu in addition to Hindi and English.

Does NTA have an exemption for the Divyangjan candidates?

Yes, Divyangjan candidates may be permitted to use a Scribe or allowed for a Compensatory time or both as given below :

a. The facility of Scribe, in case he/she has a physical limitation and a scribe is essential to write the examination on his/her behalf, beingso certified in the prescribed formatgiven in Information Bulletin by a CMO/Civil Surgeon/ Medical Superintendent of a Govt. HealthCare Institution.

b. Compensatory time of one hour for examination of three hours duration, whethersuch candidate uses the facility of Scribe or not.

c. Scribe will be provided by NTA. Candidates will not be allowed to bring their own scribes.

What is the validity of the Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS-Gen.) and PwD certificate?

In this regard, please follow the rules of relevant admitting institutions. 

In case of foreign nationals candidates (OCI/PIO), what will be the pin code in the address section?

Such candidates are required to put 000000 in the field of Pin Code.

Section-IV Fee/Payment Queries 

Whether the application fee excludes the Common Service charge?

Yes. For more details please refer to the 'Information at a Glance' given in the Information Bulletin

How can one remit the fee for NEET (UG) - 2022?

The examination fee for NEET (UG) - 2022 can be remitted in the following manner:

 Through any Debit/Credit/UPI Card using SBI/Canara/HDFC/ICICI/Paytm online gateway payment facility/ Net Banking. 

If any candidate faces any problem in remittance of fee due to failed transaction, what can he/she do?

If the payment status of an online transaction (by credit/debit card) is not communicated by the payment gateway in real time then fee payment is not completed and the candidate will not be able to download the Acknowledgement page. In this case, the candidate is required to pay the fee again through online mode and download the acknowledgment page. The amount due to failed transaction of credit/debit card will be refunded back after the declaration of the result of NEET (UG) – 2022.

Section-V Miscellaneous Queries

Class 10 number of Subjects?

The class 10 Subjects will be considered based on criteria decided by the concerned Board.

Candidate's Information of AADHAAR is not the same as entered in the Application Form ?

The candidate will be asked to verify their particulars i.e. Name, Date of Birth, and Gender, and authenticate again. If still not matched, the candidate has to select the second radio button - My Information on Aadhaar is not the same as entered in the Application Form and then proceed further.

Validity of Certificate regarding category certificate.

As per the new guidelines from the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, GoI, the candidates are required to submit the OBC-NCL certificate issued on or after 1 January 2022. If a candidate has not been able to collect the said certificate on time, he/she may be allowed to write NEET (UG) - 2022 provisionally. The candidate will submit a fresh certificate (issued on or after 1 January 2022) before the declaration of the result/at the time of reporting after seat allocation. 

School/College Pin Code 

Pin Code of the City is to be entered where the School/College is situated.
