COVID-19 Duty to be considered as service in difficult areas for PG medical admissions under in-service quota: WB DME

West Bengal: West Bengal Main Computerised Counselling (WBMCC) has informed about the modification in the provision of in-service quota for Post Graduate Medical and Dental counseling for State Quota seats in Government and Private Colleges in West Bengal.

Given the unanimous decision of the appropriate authority, the COVID-19-related duty shall be considered as rendering service in a "difficult area" to avail in-service quota for in-service candidates of Dept of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Wes Bengal till the cutoff date of 31st March 2022 only, said the notice issued by WB DME.

As per the notice, the cutoff date for service eligibility after serving in rural/remote/difficult areas being taken together will be 31st March 2022 for the academic year 2022 counseling of NEET PG 2022 and NEET MDS 2022 counseling. Henceforth such cutoff date shall be fixed at 31" March of the concerned academic year of counseling.

In 2013 WBMCC took up the responsibility of Post Graduate Medical & Dental Counselling in compliance with the orders of the Honourable Supreme Court of India. For 50% of seats in State Government Colleges, counselling is conducted as All India Quota counselling by Medical Counselling Committee, DGHS, New Delhi. For the remaining 50% seats in State Government Colleges, Private College State Quota Seats, Management Quota Seats & NRI Quota Seats, counselling is conducted by WBMCC, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, Swasthya Bhawan.

Recently Medical Dialogues team reported that the verification process related to PwD Verification for admission to NEET PG and DNB courses would be conducted. The process was held on 26th August 2022. The venue for the verification process was PMR Board Room (PMR Building) IPGMER-SSKM Hospital, Kolkata. The candidates were to bring all treatment-related documents, the original PH Certificate, 4 copies of recent passport size photos, rank card, residential proof, etc.
