DME Assam announces stray round schedule for PG medical admissions 2025

Guwahati: The Directorate of Medical Education (DME Assam), has issued an official notification announcing the Stray Round Online Counselling for admission into vacant Post Graduate seats in Government Medical Colleges of Assam and Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute Guwahati, under the Assam State Quota for the 2025 session.

As per the educational notice, candidates who appeared in NEET PG-2025, conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), New Delhi, and have secured the prescribed cut-off score are eligible to participate. However, the candidate’s name and NEET PG 2025 Roll Number must be included in the State Provisional Merit List published by DME Assam.

The Directorate has clearly stated that candidates who have already joined seats up to Round 3 under the All India Quota (AIQ) or State Quota will not be eligible to participate in further State Quota rounds.

The stray round counselling will be conducted entirely online as per the following schedule:

2 Online Filling of Choices 21/02/2026 (upto 5 PM)
3 Online Locking of Choice 21/02/2026 (4 PM to 11.55 PM)
4 Processing of Seat Allotment 22/02/2026
5 Result 23/02/2026
6 Reporting/ Joining 27/02/2026 to 28/02/2026

Candidates who do not manually lock their choices within the specified time will have their choices automatically locked by the system.

After processing of seat allotment, a college-wise and subject-wise list of provisionally selected candidates along with admission modalities will be displayed on the official website. Selected candidates must report to their respective allotted institutions within the stipulated reporting dates to complete admission formalities.

The counselling will be conducted in accordance with the “Medical Colleges of Assam (Regulation of Admission into Post Graduate Degree and Diploma Courses) Rules, 2021 (as amended up to date)”.

In their other notice, DME Assam has notified all concerned that the provisional select list of candidate after the 3rd round online counselling for vacant Post Graduate seats in the Government Medical Colleges of Assam and B.B.C.I., Guwahati under Assam State Quota for session 2025, has already been published in the official website.

All provisionally selected candidates were directed to report to the office of the Principals of the respective Colleges with following terms and conditions on 18th to 19th February, 2026 for admission, failing which his/her allotment shall be cancelled.
