Bengaluru: Even though the counselling process for the allotment of MBBS seats has already commenced for the academic year 2025-2026, the High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday asked the National Medical Commission (NMC) to give details of the number of MBBS seats increased across the country and in Karnataka.
The HC Division Bench comprising Justices Jayant Banerji and K.V. Aravind sought these details from the Apex Medical Education Regulatory Body while considering the petitions filed by some of the MBBS seat aspirants, who questioned the methodology adopted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) in alloting the seats in the third round of counselling to fill up the vacant seats in the MBBS and BDS courses.
