MCC NEET PG Counselling 2021: 4,220 DNB seats up for grabs, Check out Detailed Seat Matrix
New Delhi: A total number of 4220 seats are available for DNB aspirants for NEET PG Counselling 2021. The confirmation to this effect comes from a recently released Round 1 seat matrix by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on its official website as per which the maximum seats are available in the speciality of DNB General Medicine.
The NEET PG Counselling process has begun from 12th January. For Round 1, candidates have to first register with the MCC. After the registration, they will have to select and lock their medical college preferences from the options available till January 17. The verification of candidates by the respective institutes would be conducted from January 18 to January 19, 2022. This will be followed by the seat allotment process, on January 20 and 21. The result will be declared on January 22, 2022.
The last date of joining after the completion of overall counselling procedures including stray vacancy round is 16th March 2022 for AIQ seats and 10th March 2022 for state counselling candidates.
According to the seat matrix, 592 seats are available in the DNB General Medicine, making this speciality have the highest number of seats this year. This number is followed by DNB Anaesthesiology with 456 seats and DNB Paediatrics with 317 seats.
DNB Candidates who are intending to pursue General Surgery have 315 seats to compete for, Obstetrics and Gynaecology have 232 seats, Orthopaedics has 222 seats, Radio-Diagnosis has 207 seats and Ophthalmology has 205 seats.
The DNB specialities of Emergency Medicine have 144, Family Medicine has 96, Respiratory Medicine has 71, Radiation Oncology has 64, Pathology has 63, Cardio Vascular & Thoracic Surgery (Direct 6 Years Course) has 52, Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) has 46, Neuro Surgery (Direct 6 Years Course) has 37, Psychiatry has 18, Immuno Haematology and Blood Transfusion has 17 seats.
There are 10 seats each in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (Direct 6 Years Course) and Nuclear Medicine, 9 each in Palliative Medicine and Microbiology, 8 in Paediatric Surgery (Direct 6 Years Course), 6 in Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy, 5 each in Physical Med and Rehabilitation and Hospital Administration, 4 each in Community Medicine and Physiology, 3 each in Biochemistry and Pharmacology, 2 in Forensic Medicine and only 1 in Anatomy.
Meanwhile, DNB Diploma in Anaesthesiology has 202 seats available for candidates, while Obstetrics and Gynaecology have 194, Paediatrics has 189, Family medicine 117, Radio-Diagnosis has 99, Ophthalmology has 72, Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases has 60, Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) has 47 seats. Anaesthesiology has 7 seats.
