NBE Invites Applications for DrNB Final Theory Examination December 2025

New Delhi- The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has invited applications for the DrNB Final Theory Examination - December  2025.

NBEMS will conduct the DrNB Final Theory Examination for December 2025 on 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st December 2025 . The examination will be conducted on a computer-based platform at various examination centres across India.

Meanwhile, candidates willing to participate in the DrNB Final Theory Examination-December  2025 need to submit the application form.

"The online application process for the December 2025 session began on October 23, 2025, at 3:00 PM, and candidates can submit their applications till November 16, 2025, up to 11:55 PM," the notice stated.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates for the DrNB Final Theory Examination must meet specific requirements depending on their training pathway.

For DrNB trainees: Must have completed their training at an NBEMS-accredited institute and be registered with NBEMS. Candidates must also have completed the minimum required number of Formative Assessment Tests (FATs).

For candidates with a DM/MCh degree: Must have passed their final DM/MCh examination from a recognized Indian university by the specified cutoff date.

Submission of thesis: Candidates must have submitted their thesis to NBEMS by the deadline to be eligible. Those who failed the final theory exam in previous sessions are not eligible to apply until their thesis is accepted. 

Examination scheme

The theory exam consists of three question papers, each with ten short notes worth ten marks each. The format may vary for some subjects.

Candidates must score at least 50% (150 out of 300) in the aggregate of the three papers to qualify. Grace marks of up to 2% (6 out of 300) may be awarded to candidates scoring between 144 and 149 marks.

Candidates in direct 6-year DrNB courses in specialties like Paediatric Surgery and Neurosurgery must first pass a Part-I examination before taking the Part-II (Final) exam. For the final exam, they are exempted from Question Paper I. 

Further details regarding admit cards, exam centres, and result declaration will be notified by NBEMS in due course.
