NEET 2021 to be held in Dubai also
New Delhi: The prestigious MBBS entrance exam for admissions to this academic year, NEET 2021 will now be conducted in Dubai, the NTA has recently announced.
Through a recent notification, the National Testing Agency (NTA), the exam conducting body for NEET, has declared that Indian students based in the Middle-East Countries can appear for NEET (UG)-2021 by taking DUBAI as an Exam City for this exam in addition to Kuwait City.
While the NTA announced the opening of the Kuwait exam centre along with the release of the dates last week, the agency decided to one more exam centre in Dubai on Thursday.
As per the official notice, the decision to add a new centre in Dubai for this MBBS entrance exam in addition to Kuwait city was to facilitate the Indian students based in the Middle East countries to appear for the exam.
Those candidates who wish to apply online for NEET (UG)-2021 with Dubai as Exam City, can do so from today (23 July 2021, 5.00 PM), until 06 August 2021 (11:50 P.M.) and pay the application fee up to 07 August 2021 (11:50 P.M.), at: https://neet.nta.nic.in/
Those candidates who have already applied for NEET (UG)-2021, can change their Choice of City for Exam Centre to Dubai (if they wish so) during the correction period from 08 to 12 August 2021.
Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs V Muraleedharan praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to allocate a centre for medical entrance exam NEET in Dubai. Muraleedhara said that this decision will help thousands of Indian students and their parents.
"Good news for NEET aspirations in Dubai and Kuwait. Grateful to Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji for allocating NEET centre in Dubai and Kuwait. This generous decision will help thousands of Indian students and their parents," the MoS tweeted.
The Ministry of Education on Thursday announced NEET will be conducted in Dubai this year. "NEET (UG)-2021 examination center has been established in Dubai, in addition to the one already at Kuwait city," informed the ministry.
"The National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to create one more centre city in Dubai in addition to the one already created at Kuwait city during the year 2021," HRD Secretary Amit Khare said in a letter to Foreign Secretary, Ministry for External Affairs.
"The Indian community in the Gulf countries may appropriately be informed about this. I would also be grateful if the Indian embassies in Kuwait and Dubai are advised to extend their full cooperation to the NTA in conduct of the exam in fair and secured manner," he added.
The 13 languages in which the test will be conducted this year are Hindi, Punjabi, Assamese, Bengali, Odia, Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Urdu and English. Among the languages, Punjabi and Malyalam are the new additions.
The NEET which was earlier scheduled on August 1 was postponed to September 12.
The number of cities where examination is conducted will be increased from 155 to 198. The number of examination centres will also be increased from 3,862 used in 2020.
Last year, it was conducted on September 13 amid strict precautions in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 13.66 lakh candidates had appeared in the exam of whom 7,71,500 qualified.
