New Delhi: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the official schedule for the Special Stray Vacancy Round of the NEET UG counselling for the academic year 2025 for MBBS admissions, along with timelines for BDS and BSc Nursing seats under All India Quota (AIQ), Deemed and Central Universities, and State Quota.

According to the schedule, MCC is going to start the NEET UG Special Stray Round counselling for MBBS & (BDS/ B.Sc Nursing Seats) 2025 from today, i.e. 18th December 2025 and end on 31st December 2025. Following this, Round 5 of Counselling will take place from 1 st to 10th January 2026. Below is the detailed schedule-

Along with this, MCC has also released the seat matrix for the Special Stray Vacancy Round 2 of the NEET UG counselling for the academic year 2025. The seat matrix has been released on the official website of MCC. 

According to the seat matrix, a total of 67 seats are vacant across MBBS courses all over India. Of these, Karnataka has the highest MBBS seats and Assam, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Kerala and MP have the lowest MBBS seats. The seat matrix provides a state-wise and institute-wise breakup of remaining seats under various quotas and categories, offering eligible candidates a final opportunity to secure an MBBS seat for the 2025 academic session. Meanwhile, MCC has further informed all the NEET UG eligible candidates that some MBBS seats are still lying vacant due to Non-Joining/ Non-Reporting after the completion of the Stray Vacancy Round of UG counselling 2025.

Therefore, the competent authority has decided to conduct a Special Stray Vacancy Round for the vacant MBBS seats in an online mode so that the precious medical seats do not go waste. Also, the Round for BDS/ B.Sc (Nursing) seats will be conducted along with MBBS seats.

According to the notice, the rule position for the Special Stray Vacancy Round is as under-

1 Candidates who are not holding any seat in earlier rounds of All India Quota & State Quota are eligible to participate.

2 Hence, candidates who are holding any seat in earlier rounds of All India Quota & State Quota, irrespective of the course allotted (i.e MBBS/ BDS/ B.Sc (Nursing) are ‘not eligible’ to participate.

3 However, candidates will have to do Fresh Choice Filling forthe Special Stray Vacancy Round. Any choices submitted earlier will be treated as ‘Null & Void’.

4 Refundable Security Deposit of candidates who do not join the seats allotted to them in the Special Stray Vacancy Round will be forfeited.

5 Candidates who will be allotted seats in the Special Stray Vacancy Round will have to report at the allotted Institute and join the seat with their original documents within the stipulated time mentioned in the schedule.

6 The list of candidates who have been allotted seats in the Special Stray Vacancy Round will be shared with state counselling authorities and such candidates will be debarred from taking admission in the Special Stray Vacancy Round of state counselling.

7 Candidates participating in the Special Stray Vacancy Round will have to furnish an undertaking with respect to allotment of seats at the time of Choice Filling on the MCC portal.
