NEET SS counselling 2025: MCC allows round 1 candidates to resign without security deposit forfeiture
New Delhi: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), has allowed candidates allotted seats in Round 1 of SS Counselling 2025 to resign from their seats without forfeiture of the security deposit.
The resignation facility will remain available from today, i.e. July 31, 2026, to 6:00 PM on August 4, 2026.
According to the notice issued by the MCC in this regard, this relaxation has been granted under exceptional circumstances in the interest of candidates and should not be treated as a precedent for future counselling processes.
Candidates who wish to surrender their Round 1 seats must approach their respective allotted colleges within the prescribed timeline to complete the resignation process and collect their original documents.
MCC has made it clear that the resignation letter must be generated online through the MCC portal by the college authorities. Candidates have been advised to ensure that this online process is completed properly.
Any resignation accepted by a college only through offline mode will be treated as “Null and Void” and will not be recognised by MCC.
Candidates intending to resign have been advised to complete all formalities within the stipulated period to ensure that their resignation is treated as valid.

Medical Dialogues had recently reported that the Tamil Nadu Medical Officers, who had earlier filed a separate writ petition in the Supreme Court in relation to the NEET super speciality case, slammed the Tamil Nadu government for the loss of 151 unfilled NEET SS seats, saying the situation arose because of poor handling of the case and negligence from the beginning.
The criticism came a day after the Supreme Court directed the Tamil Nadu government to revert the unfilled 151 NEET SS seats to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) by July 29, 2026 and asked the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to complete the NEET SS 2025 counselling process within two weeks.
