Bharatpur: After being found guilty of ragging 13 MBBS first-year students at Shri Jagannath Pahadiya Medical College in Bharatpur, the administration recently expelled ten senior medical students—seven women and three men— for a week.

The accused senior students have been prohibited from utilizing the college library, playground, and gym for one month as part of the penalty, and are also debarred from attending college classes for one week.

The incident came to light after college employees clicked pictures and shot videos of the ragging incident at the college premises and informed the administration which prompted them to take action against the seniors.

As per a ETV Bharat news report, the ragging occurred twice, -at first, the accused senior students threatened the junior students over the phone and the next day the female seniors ragged the juniors together. On October 21, these female students made the 13 first-year junior students stand together in the common room of the college and allegedly ragged them

After getting information about the ragging, the administration launched an investigation and took action against the 10 seniors after they were found guilty of ragging the juniors.

College Principal Dr Tarun Lal told the daily, that "Two separate cases of ragging had come to the notice of the administration in the college in the past few days. According to Dr Lal, the accused senior students had threatened the junior students on the phone and the next day the senior girls had ragged the junior girls together in the common room of the college."

“When an investigation was done in this regard, the junior girls had demanded in writing not to take any action against the senior students, but the college administration has held 7 girl students and 3 boy students guilty as per the rules of the National Medical Commission (NMC) and expelled them from the classes for 7 days. Also, use of the library, gym and playground has been prohibited for one month,” he added.
