AMU's JN Medical College bags NMC nod for MCh Neurosurgery seats

These two seats in M.Ch Neurosurgery would be added to the medical institute from the academic session 2021-2022.

The nod from MARB has come after the Board took note of the Assessor's report and the recommendations of the PG Expert Group regarding the physical and other teaching facilities available at the medical college.

M.Ch or the Master of Surgery is one of the most advanced qualifications in surgery. Generally, this degree is pursued after MS in Surgery for gaining an expert-level understanding of this field.

At JLMC, the Department of Neurosurgery is the third department being granted NMC nod for the super-specialty programmes. Previously, approval for M.Ch courses was given for the Department of Plastic Surgery and the Department of Cardiology.

While commenting on the development, the Vice-Chancellor of the institute, Prof Tariq Mansoor expressed his happiness and told India Education Diary, "We are committed to provide the best facilities at J N Medical College. The approval of M.Ch. seats in Neurosurgery will further augment the super-specialty services for the patients."

"We have fulfilled all the criteria and facilities required for running M.Ch. program in Neurosurgery. Several visits by the inspection teams have cleared our proposal. This will go a long way in strengthening the medical services of the region," further mentioned Prof Mansoor.

"We have received the Letter of Intent from MARB and soon other formalities for commencing the session will be formally done from session 2021-22," he added.

Meanwhile, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Prof Rakesh Bhargava, Principal of JNMC Prof S A Siddiqui, Chairman, Department of Neurosurgery, Prof Rama Mohan Sharma, and other senior faculty members of the University have expressed their gratitude to the VC Prof Mansoor for his continuous efforts for commencing the Super specialty course in Neurosurgery.

"The approval of two seats at Neurosurgery is hard-earned and it will further improve our medical facilities. We extend our gratitude towards the Vice-Chancellor and all other officials," Prof Bhargava told the daily.
