The fraudulently taken money was then transferred to the account of the accused. Another attempt was made by them to withdraw money from the bank account of the college on October 11 as well.

According to a media report published in India Today, the issue came to the fore while the medical college was going through the bank statement as part of its routine check-up. And when the passbook of the college was updated on October 7, they noticed the transfer via cheque made on October 6.

Thus, a complaint was filed by the medical college officials against unidentified people in a case of fraud, following which a case has been filed at the Bundgarden police station under Sections 465, 467, 468, 471, 420, 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The Pune police have also booked a man and his accomplice for forging a private bank cheque and using the same to cheat the medical college. However, no arrest has been made yet, with the investigation still going on.

The investigating officer in the case, sub-inspector Tukaram Fad, informed Indian Express, "The money withdrawn from the bank account of the medical college has been retrieved. No arrest has been made yet. Further investigation is underway in the case. "
