GMC Mancherial gets allocation of 32 acres of land on the outskirts of Gudipet
Mancherial: Giving the medical aspirants a reason to celebrate, the Mancherial Government Medical College is all set to be established on 32 acres of land on the outskirts of Gudipet village in Hajipur mandal after a long waiting over the allocation of land which has finally came to an conclusion.
Although the medical college is going to be operated in temporary structures built in the existing agriculture market on College Road in Mancherial town, it is going to bring major development to the neighbouring areas of the village.
The creation of this medical college will bring major relief to the medical aspirants of the district who had to go to Karimnagar, Warangal and Hyderabad for pursuing medical education.
As a media report in Telangana Today, the allocation of land for the medical college was an ongoing issue for two years with no possible solution reaching the surface. The government earlier tried to construct the medical college on lands of Naspur mandal centre and Saikunta in Mancherial town but the Forest department refused to give clearance to the spot due to its past history of the mother and child hospital being inundated in flood in 2021.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that the National Medical Commission gave its nod to GMC Mancherial with 150 MBBS seats from the academic year 2022-2023.
GMC Mancherial is one of the eight medical colleges that were sanctioned in the State last year. Medical Dialogues had earlier proposed to set up eight new medical colleges at Ramagundam, Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool, Mahabubabad, Kothagudem, Jagtial, Mancherial, and Sangareddy.
Already, the college has 48 teachers including professors against 54 sanctioned strength for teaching anatomy, physiology and biochemistry. Recently 42 senior residents joined the institute for discharging duties. Besides, around 148 staff including sanitation workers would work in the college on the basis of outsourcing by an agency for the college.
