More MBBS Seats in Telangana: Mancherial Medical College set to commence Admission from this academic year
Mancherial: The medical aspirants in Telangana are going to get a better chance for pursuing MBBS course since the newly constituted government medical college in the Mancherial district of the State is all set to commence admission in 150 MBBS course from this academic year 2022-2023.
Although the medical college is going to be operated in temporary structures built in the existing agriculture market yard at Ramnagar in district headquarters, it is going to bring major relief to the medical aspirants of the district who had to go to Karimnagar, Warangal and Hyderabad for pursuing medical education.
Already a three-member committee of NMC inspected the college infrastructure back in February this year and the Committee was satisfied with the arrangements, adds Telangana Today. However, while conducting the virtual inspection back in July, the Apex medical body had objected to the operation of the college under iron sheds. In this respect, the college has assured the NMC for providing better facilities in future.
The college has been set up at the existing agriculture market yard at Ramnagar with an estimated cost of Rs 14 crore. It has a 330-bedded government general hospital attached to it.
GMC Mancherial is one of the eight medical colleges that were sanctioned in the State last year. Medical Dialogues had earlier proposed to set up eight new medical colleges at Ramagundam, Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool, Mahabubabad, Kothagudem, Jagtial, Mancherial, and Sangareddy.
Besides, in his budget speech at the state legislative assembly session, Finance Minister Harish Rao had announced a medical college will be established in every district over the next two years. During calendar year 2022, eight new medical colleges will come up. During 2023, new medical colleges would be established in the remaining eight districts, the minister had said.
Among the eight proposed medical colleges, NMC recently have its nod for the medical colleges in the Ramagundam, Mahabubabad, Jagtial, Wanaparthy and Sangareddy districts.
As per the latest media report by Telangana Today, the medical college in the Mancherial district is all set to offer admission in 150 MBBS seats from this academic year. In fact, the NMC team inspected the college back in February and it was satisfied with the infrastructure. Although during the virtual inspection in July, the commission objected to operation of the college under iron sheds, the medical college authorities have assured setting up bettwe infrastructure in future.
Speaking about this, the principal of the medical college Dr. Suleman Md told the daily that necessary facilities were available at the medical college for smooth conduction of classes from October 2022. Mentioning that classrooms, laboratories, gym, demo rooms, canteen, electricity, etc. were ready, he further added that 3,000 books would be received soon. The college has taken a private building on rent for providing hostel facilities to the students.
Already, the college has 48 teachers including professors against 54 sanctioned strength for teaching anatomy, physiology and biochemistry. Recently 42 senior residents joined the institute for discharging duties. Besides, around 148 staff including sanitation workers would work in the college on the basis of outsourcing by an agency for the college.
Expressing his confidence about NMC permission, the college Principal added that the Commission might approve the college since it was the first year.
