Lucknow: Pratapgarh Medical College renamed as Dr Sonelal Patel State Medical College

Lucknow: The new Medical College at Pratapgarh has been renamed as Dr Sonelal Patel State Medical College after Apna Dal founder Dr Sonelal Patel.

The announcement was made by State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday.

Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Anupriya Patel, who is also National president of Apna Dal (Sonelal), has expressed happiness over this decision of the UP government, and has also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for renaming the college after founder of Apna Dal.

The UP government has announced on Friday that it has decided to rename the autonomous State Medical College located at Pratapgarh as Dr. Sonelal Patel State College.

Earlier, Ms Anupriya Patel had written a request in this regard on June 16 last month.

The minister had also said in the letter that Pratapgarh is the district where the first member of the Apna Dal was elected to the Legislative Assembly.

Party's working national president and Legislative Council member Mr. Ashish Patel and party's state president Dr. Jamuna Prasad Saroj have too expressed happiness over this decision of the Chief Minister.

Party's national spokesperson Rajesh Patel said Pratapgarh had been the work place of founder of the party, Dr. Sonelal Patel where he struggled for a long time for the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden.
