MBBS at PGIMER! Institute Gets Final Approval for Sarangpur Medical College

Chandigarh- Paving the way for the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) to start MBBS courses for the first time, the institute has received its final approval for the development of a 100-bed medical college at Sarangpur. Till now, PGI has offered only postgraduate courses like MD and MS.
Along with this, the Advanced Cancer Institute, a trauma centre and outpatient department (OPD), which are part of the ambitious Sarangpur project, also got approval from the institute body. All these significant decisions were approved in the meeting held recently after a long gap of two years.
The meeting was chaired by Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda and all other members also attended the meeting. In the meeting, PGIMER has been directed to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the Sarangpur project and submit it to the Health Ministry.
On this, Deputy Director of Administration Pankaj Rai said that now the DPR, along with cost estimate and other project details, will be prepared and submitted to the ministry, reports HT.
