New Medical College to come up in Banka

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recently declared that a Medical College and Hospital would be established in Banka district. This institute is aimed at providing quality treatment facilities for patients of the district and its surrounding areas.

Kumar during his " Pragati Yatra " in Banka District, said that state government had taken a decision to established a Medical College and Hospital and a plot had also been selected for the purpose.

He had also inspected the site to assess the suitability for establishing medical college.

"Widening works of NH-25 would also be done to provide better connectivity between Bhagalpur and Banka so that pilgrims during the auspicious Shravan month could face no difficulty while going to Deoghar temple for paying obeisance to Lord Shankar," Chief Minister said adding that widening works of State Highway-22 would also be done which linked Bhagalpur, Munger and Banka districts.

Power grid sub-station would be set at Baunsi and Belhar for quality power supply to local population, he added.

"A degree college would be set up in Katoria of Banka district while a new check dam would be constructed on Kataria river in Rajauni block of the district," Kumar said adding that an industrial area would also be developed on 193 acres of government land and 37 acres of acquired land.

Ganga water would also be canalised to Hanumana dam for irrigation purpose, he stated.

Chhapra Medical College has been constructed at a cost of Rs 425 crore to provide advanced health facilities to the people of Saran division, which was inaugurated by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar last month. The land for the construction of the medical college has been given by the authorities of Jai Prakash University in Chhapra.
