NMC nod to 100 MBBS seats at Karimnagar Medical College

Hyderabad: Providing medical aspirants a reason to celebrate, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted permission for 100 MBBS seats at Karimnagar Government Medical College on Wednesday. This is the 9th medical college in total to be approved this year. 

The apex medical education regulatory body NMC has permitted the State to commence the MBBS admission in 100 seats at the medical college from the academic year 2023-2024.

Telangana has set a national record with 9 approved government medical colleges at Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Kamareddy, Khammam, Vikarabad, Janagam, Rajanna Siricilla, Nirmal, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, and Karimnagar this year.

With the addition of 900 government medical seats in one year, Telangana has reached new heights in medical education which will provide unparalleled opportunities to the medical aspirants of the state. 

Taking to Twitter, Health Minister, T.Harish Rao said "Government Medical College, Karimnagar, has received approval with 100 MBBS seats, a testament to CM KCR's commitment to one medical college in every district. Congratulations Komarambheem Asifabad, Kamareddy, Khammam, Vikarabad, Janagam, Rajanna Sirisilla, Nirmal, Jayashankar Bhupalappalli, and Karimnagar! Now 900 MBBS seats will be added, aspiring doctors have unparalleled opportunities to serve people."

Under CM KCR's leadership, Telangana has grown from 5 to 26 government medical colleges in just 9 years.

"This milestone boosts healthcare accessibility and medical education. A government medical college in Karimnagar brings specialized services closer, ensuring exceptional healthcare. Let's celebrate this achievement and embrace a future of enhanced healthcare and education in Telangana!, " he added. 

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that senior health officials of the State had assured that around 950 to 1000 additional MBBS seats will be added to the State from the upcoming academic year.
