NMC Nod to 100 MBBS Seats at GMC Khammam
Hyderabad: Another 100 MBBS seats are being added to the seat matrix of Telangana as the National Medical Commission (NMC) has given the green signal for Government Medical College in Khammam for the academic year 2023-2024.
The apex medical education regulatory body NMC has given its nod for these seats from the academic year 2023-2024. This comes after NMC gave its permission for two medical colleges in Kamareddy and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts.
For both these medical colleges, NMC had approved 100 MBBS seats each from the upcoming academic year 2023-2024. Apart from these three medical colleges, another six medical colleges are likely to come up in the State at Rajanna Sircilla, Vikarabad, Karimnagar, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Jangaon and Nirmal.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that senior health officials of the State had assured that around 950 to 1000 additional MBBS seats will be added to the State from the upcoming academic year.

Such an assurance was given by the State Health officials as they referred to the fact that NMC is encouraging all the State governments to set up more medical colleges.
Apart from the MBBS seats, 50 additional PG superspecialty seats are also going to be added in the government medical colleges in the State. After the NMC nod for upcoming medical colleges in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad and Kamareddy districts, the State was expecting nod for 800 medical seats in the upcoming government medical colleges in Rajanna Sircilla, Vikarabad, Khammam, Karimnagar, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Jangaon, and Nirmal.
As per the latest media report by Telangana Today, NMC has now given its nod for 100 MBBS seats at Government Medical College in Khammam for the academic year 2023-2024.
Now, the State Government is waiting for the nod from the apex medical education regulatory body for the remaining six medical colleges at Rajanna Sircilla, Vikarabad, Karimnagar, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Jangaon and Nirmal. With the NMC permission for these medical colleges, around 900 to 1000 additional MBBS seats will be available for admission for the medical aspirants from the State.
