New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has asked all medical colleges and institutions under its purview to actively participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 Campaign, being observed across India from August 9 to 17, 2026.

The Government of India launched the Har Ghar Tiranga (HGT) campaign in 2022 under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with the objective of encouraging every citizen to hoist the National Flag at their homes and foster a personal and emotional connection with the Tiranga.

Over the years, the campaign has evolved into a successful Jan Bhagidari movement, symbolising national identity, patriotism and pride.

The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign was successfully implemented during 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025, with the Tiranga being prominently displayed across homes, offices, educational institutions and public spaces throughout the country during Independence Day celebrations.

Activities such as Selfie with Tiranga, Prabhat Pheris, Tiranga Rallies (including bike and cycle rallies), Tiranga Exhibitions, and various grassroots-level Jan Bhagidari initiatives have transformed Independence Day into a more participative and widely celebrated national event.

The campaign has also provided an opportunity for citizens to pay heartfelt tribute to the freedom fighters and brave soldiers who laid down their lives in service of the nation and in honour of the Tiranga.

In continuation of this national movement, the Government of India is commemorating 150 years of the National Song "Vande Mataram."

In this regard, the NMC, through a public notice, states that the National Implementation Committee (NIC), under the Chairmanship of the Hon'ble Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, has approved, vide its directions dated 13 th March 2026, the integration of the third phase of this commemoration with Har Ghar Tiranga 2026.

Accordingly, the Government of India has decided to celebrate Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 from 9 th to 17 th August 2026 across the country.

During this period, all physical celebrations shall bring together singing of the National Song "Vande Mataram" and hoisting/display of the National Flag (Tiranga). Similarly, the digital celebrations shall also bring together these two components through the Har Ghar Tiranga website, wherein citizens may upload a selfie with Tiranga and the lyrics of "Vande Mataram" shall automatically appear as part of the uploaded picture.

Accordingly, all Medical Colleges and Institutions under the domain of the NMC are requested to actively participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 Campaign by organising suitable activities during 09th–17 th August 2026.

The following activities are encouraged to be conducted in all the Medical Colleges and Institutions across India-

1 Organise National Flag hoisting ceremonies along with the collective singing of the National Song "Vande Mataram" in Medical Colleges and associated institutions.

2 Encourage doctors, healthcare professionals, nursing staff, students, officers, employees and beneficiaries to actively participate in the campaign.

3 Conduct awareness programmes and outreach activities in hospitals and healthcare institutions to promote the spirit of Har Ghar Tiranga 2026.

4 Motivate all stakeholders and members of the public to upload their "Selfie with Tiranga" on the Har Ghar Tiranga Portal. As part of the digital campaign, the lyrics of "Vande Mataram" will automatically appear on the uploaded photograph.

5 Display the Tiranga Exhibition curated by the Ministry of Culture, available in the download section of the Har Ghar Tiranga Portal, wherever feasible, in offices, hospitals & other places under the administrative control of the institution.

6 Publicise the campaign extensively through the official website and social media platforms of the Medical Colleges / Institutions.

Hence, all Medical Colleges and Institutions are requested to ensure wide participation in the campaign and make Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 a meaningful celebration of national unity, patriotism and collective commitment to the ideals embodied by the National Flag.
