Soon: New medical colleges to come up in each constituency of Andhra Pradesh
Vizianagaram: In a major boost to medical education in Andhra Pradesh, the state government has decided to construct new medical colleges for every Parliamentary constituency in the state for Rs 8,000 crore.
With a medical college in each constituency, the state will become a hub for advanced medical care and provide access to patients living in rural areas with improved healthcare infrastructure. Medical aspirants will also have the option of choosing a medical college according to their accessibility.
The confirmation in this regard came from Special Chief Secretary (Medical and Health) Mr Krishna Babu. He made the announcement while inspecting the work of the new medical college at Gajularega, on the outskirts of Vizianagaram which is a few steps away to be completed soon.

Altogether Rs 500 crore is being spent for the construction of this new medical college in Gajularega, which will come up in about 70 acres. While the entire area of the college will be around 14 lakh square feet, in the first phase, construction work has begun for an area of 6 lakh square feet.
