NMC nod to 150 MBBS seats at GMC Eluru
Visakhapatnam: Bringing good news to the medical aspirants in Andhra Pradesh, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board of National Medical Commission (NMC) has given its nod for 150 MBBS seats at Government Medical College in Eluru.
The apex medical education regulatory body NMC has permitted the State to commence the MBBS admission in 150 seats at the medical college from the academic year 2023-2024.
This comes after an inspection was conducted by a team from NMC who visited the college and took stock of the infrastructural facilities, including the faculty, needed to start the college on Wednesday.

Following this, a report was submitted by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board and the approval was granted by NMC, reports TOI
NMC has sought submission of essential undertakings and documents from authorities, so that it could issue the Letter of Permission for starting the medical college from academic year 2023–24.
Currently, three medical colleges in Eluru, Vizianagaram and Nandyal have been granted permission to commence its classes from this year.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that medical colleges at Eluru, Vizianagaram, Rajamahendravaram, Nandyal and Machilipatnam districts of the State will commence the MBBS admission process in 150 MBBS seats each.
It was expected that the NMC would soon give its permission after Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences gave its permission to commence academic classes in the five medical colleges.
The AP Cabinet had earlier given approval for 3,530 posts for five new medical colleges in Nandyal, Machilipatnam, Eluru, Rajamahendravaram and Vizianagaram which are all set to start from next academic year (2023-24).
As per NMC norms, 222 posts are allotted to each medical college and 484 posts to the affiliated teaching hospital. Accordingly, the Cabinet has decided on 3,530 posts at the rate of 706 posts for each medical college.
