TN Dr MGR Medical University Implements formative, continuous internal assessment as per NMC CBME Guidelines for Phase I MBBS exams, Details
Tamil Nadu- Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai in its recent notice has informed about the implementation of formative assessment and continuous internal assessment as per Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) guidelines- National Medical Commission (NMC) for Phase I MBBS.
The notice has been addressed to all the deans, principals, vice-principals, HOD PHysiology, HOD Anatomy and Biochemistry across all affiliated medical colleges with the university.
The guidelines of NMC are as follows-
1 Formative Assessment and Continuous Internal Assessment for Theory and Practicals should be done for 500 Marks each from the Academic Year 2023-2024.
2 Regular periodic examinations shall be conducted throughout the course. The students should be assessed for the first PCT, second PCT, Preliminary Paper I & II for theory and first PCT, second PCT, Prelims for practical examinations.
3 In Continuous Internal Assessment (Theory), the Continuous Class Test (LMS) includes assessment of Class Room Learning and Integrated sessions.
4 Self Directed Learning includes Assessment of Seminars, Museum Study and Library assignments.
5 Learners must secure at least 50% marks of the total marks assigned for internal assessment in a particular subject to be eligible for appearing at the final University examination of that subject. Internal assessment marks will reflect as separate heads of passing at the summative examination.
6 There shall be a minimum of 75% attendance in Theory and 80% in Practicals for eligibility to appear for the University examinations in that subject.
