NEET SS 2026: Doctors' body urges NBE to declare definitive exam schedule, commence registration
New Delhi: Highlighting the lack of clarity on the dates of the National-Eligibility-Entrance Test Superspeciality (NEET SS) 2026 examination, a doctors' body has urged the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to declare the definite schedule immediately.
In a letter directed to the Chairman of the NBEMS, the Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA) expressed concern about the uncertainty surrounding the conduct of the NEET-SS 2026 examination.
The doctors pointed out that as per the provisional schedule announced by NBEMS, NEET-SS 2026 is tentatively scheduled to be conducted on 11th and 12th December 2026. However, with less than 45 days remaining before the proposed examination dates, the registration process has not yet commenced, and no clear update regarding the definitive examination schedule or registration timeline has been communicated, they pointed out.
"This prolonged uncertainty is causing considerable anxiety among thousands of postgraduate medical specialists across the country who are preparing for super-specialty admissions. Candidates require adequate time to complete registration, arrange the necessary documents, plan their professional commitments and prepare for this crucial examination. The continued absence of a confirmed timeline makes it increasingly difficult for them to plan their academic and professional futures," the association mentioned in the letter.

They also added that with the year 2026 nearing its conclusion, any further delay in announcing the examination schedule and initiating registration may create additional uncertainty regarding the timely completion of the admission process and the commencement of the subsequent academic session.
FORDA has requested NBEMS to declare a clear and definitive schedule for NEET-SS 2026, including confirmation of the proposed examination dates, commence the online registration process at the earliest, without any further delay, issue an official notification specifying the registration opening and closing dates, admit card release date, examination schedule, and expected timeline for the declaration of results, and ensure that candidates are provided with adequate notice and sufficient time to complete all examination-related formalities.
While appreciating the administrative and logistical challenges involved in conducting a national-level examination of this magnitude, FORDA urged NBEMS to address this on priority, especially considering the limited time remaining and the large number of aspirants awaiting an official update.
"Thousands of qualified doctors have invested years of rigorous training and preparation in pursuit of super-specialty education. A timely and transparent examination schedule is essential to safeguard their academic interests, reduce avoidable uncertainty, and ensure the smooth conduct of the admission process. We therefore earnestly request your kind intervention and an early official communication regarding NEET-SS 2026, along with the immediate commencement of the registration process," it said.
