NTA releases NEET 2020 admit card; over 6.84 lakh downloaded in first 5 hours
New Delhi: With 15 days left to the conduction of the prestigious MBBS entrance exam, NEET 2020, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the admit card for the exam.

Within a few hours after its release, over 6.84 lakh admit cards for medical entrance exam NEET were downloaded within first 5 hours. As per a recent report by PTI, over four lakh admit cards for medical entrance exam NEET were downloaded within three hours since the release.
Medical Dialogues had recently reported about the conduct of the examination, as per the official information published by the NTA. The NEET 2020 will be held on 13th September as scheduled and the total of 15,97,433 Candidates are registered for the same. The Admit Cards will be released shortly. Overall, 99.87% Candidates will be accommodated against their first preference of Centre City.
The number of Examination Centers have also been increased from 2546 to 3843 (in case of NEET (UG) 2020). NEET is pen paper-based test.
15.97 lakh candidates have been registered for NEET 2020. State wise distribution of candidates and centers, applicable to the ensuing examinations in September 2020, vis-a-vis the examinations held last (May 2019 for NEET (UG)) is attached below. In order to meet the social distancing requirements, there has been a substantial increase in the number of centres.
In case of NEET (UG), the number of candidates per room has been reduced from earlier 24 to 12, now.
For ensuring social distancing outside the examination hall, the entry and exit of candidates has been staggered. Adequate arrangements have also been made outside the examination centers to enable candidates stand with adequate social distancing while waiting. Candidates have also been issued advisory guiding them about "Do's and Don'ts" for proper social distancing.
NTA has also written to the States Governments to extend support in local movement of the candidates so that they are able to reach their examination centres on time.
The NTA assures all candidates a safe environment for tests and solicits cooperation from the candidates and their parents in following the standard operating procedures.
Meanwhile, in a major development on NEET 2020 recently, the Medical Council of India (MCI) has declared "one-time exemption" for NEET aspirants who intend to pursue MBBS abroad, keeping in view of the unprecedented circumstances given the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with this, the MCI has made it clear that the candidates would have to appear and qualify the exams either in 2020 or next year 2021.
