Puducherry: There are a total of 230 PG medical seats available for NEET PG candidates who intend to pursue PG from Puducherry based medical colleges this academic year.

The information to this effect comes from a recent letter directed to the Coordinator of the Centralized Admission Committee (CENTAC) wherein the Government of Puducherry has released the seat matrix for Postgraduate Medical courses (MD/MS) for the academic year 2021-2022.

"I am directed to enclose the seat matrix in respect of the seats available in the Private and Government Medical Colleges for admission of students in Post Graduate Medical courses for the academic year 2021-22," stated the letter by the Under Secretary to Government (Health), A. Punithamary.

As per the seat matrix, which has been issued with the approval of the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor, there are a total number of 152 Clinical PG medical seats in the Government and Private colleges for the year 2021-22. Among them, 73 seats are Government quota seats and the rest of the seats are management quota seats.

On the other hand, the total number of Non-Clinical seats in Puducherry is 78. Among these seats, 39 seats are Government quota, and there are another 39 seats in the management quota.

The Institute wise seat matrix for the PG clinical and non-clinical seats are given below.

PG Clinical Seats:

Among the 152 PG clinical seats, 36 seats are in Pondicherry Institute of Medical Science (PIMS), 58 seats are in Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College & Hospital, 53 seats are in Sri Venkateshwaraa Medical College Hospital & Research Centre and 5 seats are in Government-run Indira Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute.

Indira Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute (IGMCRI):

At the Government run IGMCRI, there are a total number of 5 PG clinical seats and among them 2 seats are reserved for the All India Quota students.

Specialty wise, there are 1 MS ENT seat in the All India Quota and 1 seat in Government Quota. In case of MS Obs & Gyn, there are 1 All India Quota and 2 Government quota seats.

Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS):

There are a total number of 36 PG clinical seats in PIMS. Among them, 17 are Government quota seats and 19 are management quota seats.

Specialty wise, there are 6 seats in MD Anesthesiology, 3 seats in MD Dermatology, 3 seats in MS ENT, 6 seats in MS General Surgery, 3 seats in MS Obs & Gyn, 3 seats in MS Opthalmology, 2 seats in MS Orthopedics, 3 seats in MD Pediatrics, 3 seats in MD Psychiatry, 1 seat in MD Pulmonary Medicine, and 4 seats in MD Radio Diagnosis.

Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College & Hospital (SMVMC&H):

The total number of PG clinical seats at SMVMC&H is 58. Among these seats, 28 are Government quota seats and there are 30 management quota seats in the Institute.

Specialty wise, there are 6 seats in MD Anesthesiology, 4 seats in MD DVL, 2 seats in MS ENT, 10 seats in MD General Medicine, 9 seats in MS General Surgery, 2 seats in MS Obs & Gyn, 4 seats in MS Opthalmology, 4 seats in MS Orthopedics, 6 seats in MD Pediatrics, 3 seats in MD Psychiatry, 6 seats in MD Radio Diagnosis and 2 seats in MS TB & Chest Disease.

Sri Ventakteswara Medical College Hospital & Research Centre (SVMCH&RC):

There are a total number of 53 PG clinical seats at SVMCH&RC. Among these, 25 are Government quota seats and 28 are management quota seats.

Specialty wise, there are 9 seats in MD Anesthesiology, 4 seats in MD DVL, 1 seats in MS ENT, 11 seats in MD General Medicine, 10 seats in MS General Surgery, 4 seats in MS Obs & Gyn, 3 seats in MS Opthalmology, 3 seats in MS Orthopedics, 2 seats in MD Pediatrics, 1 seats in MD Psychiatry, and 5 seats in MD Radio Diagnosis.

PG Non-Clinical Seats:

Among the 78 PG Non clinical seats in Puducherry, 21 seats are in PIMS, 25 seats are in SMVMC&H, 20 in SVMCH&RC, and 12 seats are in IGMCRI.

PIMS:

Specialty-wise, at PIMS, there are 2 seats in MD Anatomy, 2 seats in MD Bio-chemistry, 4 seats in MD Community Medicine, 4 seats in MD Microbiology, 3 seats are in MD Pathology, 2 seats are in MD Pharmacology, and 4 seats in MD Physiology.

SMVMC&H:

Among the 25 total PG clinical seats, specialty wise there are 4 seats in MD Anatomy, 3 seats in MD Bio-chemistry, 3 seats in MD Community Medicine, 2 seats in MD Microbiology, 6 seats are in MD Pathology, 4 seats are in MD Pharmacology, and 3 seats in MD Physiology.

SVMCH&RC:

There are 20 PG non-clinical seats at SVMCH&RC. Among these, specialty wise there are 3 seats in MD Anatomy, 2 seats in MD Bio-chemistry, 2 seats in MD Community Medicine, 4 seats in MD Microbiology, 2 seats are in MD Pathology, 4 seats are in MD Pharmacology, and 3 seats in MD Physiology.

IGMCRI:

Among the 12 PG non-clinical seats at IGMCRI, specialty wise there are 2 seats in MD Anatomy, 4 seats in MD Community Medicine, 4 seats in MD Microbiology, and 2 seats are in MD Pathology.
