New Delhi: The plan of providing medical education in Hindi is under consideration in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

While the Yogi Adityanath Government has already received a proposal in this regard from the President of Hindi Bhasha Sansthan, in Madhya Pradesh, the Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang has announced that a committee will soon be constituted for preparing medical syllabus in Hindi.

In Madhya Pradesh, the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi University had been established back in 2010 for providing education in major streams including medical education in Hindi. However, even after 10 years, there hasn't been any significant progress in that area.

Medical Dialogues had reported back in 2016 that the Medical Council of India was contemplating a proposal in this regard after the Bhopal-based Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi University had sought permission from the council to start MBBS courses in Hindi.

Uttar Pradesh:

Aiming at helping the meritorious students of the Hindi-speaking region, The Hindi Bhasha Sansthan of the State has already published three books in Hindi covering the medical syllabus.

In fact, the president of the organization, Dr. Rajnarayan Shukla has already proposed it before the State Government so that all the Universities of the State include those books, adds India Today.

Among the three books the first two books cover 'Modern Surgery and Specialties of Surgery' in two parts and the third book is on disease diagnosis. Altogether these books cover the concept of surgery.

Dr. Shukla has further informed the daily that initially they couldn't find any publisher for publishing medical books in Hindi language but then the Institute took the initiative and Dr. T C Goyal wrote the three books.

The daily further adds that the exercise by the language institute has been under process for the past three years. However, it took shape in September 2020.

Such an initiative on the part of the UP Bhasha Sansthan has come as it took note of the fact that medical books are unavailable in Hindi language.

These books will be available in all the libraries of all the universities of the State and the country free of cost by the Institute, adds the daily. Gradually, in the coming days, the vice-chancellors of all the universities will be asked to make these books part of the syllabus.

As per the latest media report by the Free Press Journal, the Madhya Pradesh Medical Education Department is also taking an initiative so that the medical students in the state get to study in Hindi as well. Such an announcement came from the Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang on the Hindi Diwas on Tuesday.

In fact, the minister has announced that soon the state would constitute a committee to decide on preparing the medical syllabus in Hindi.

While commenting on the matter, the minister said, "The committee will also ensure that the syllabus is prepared and on how to implement it in a phased manner in state."
