1807 Surgeries in Private Hospitals, None at GMC! Govt Doctor barred from Private Practice

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department recently barred a government doctor from private practice after it found that the concerned doctor had conducted more than 1807 surgeries under the AB-PMJAY-SEHAT Scheme exclusively in private hospitals, while ignoring his duties at the Government hospital.
An order was issued in this regard by the H&ME Department on 09.04.2025. In the order, the H&ME Department mentioned that an evaluation of the doctor, who is an Assistant Professor at the GMC Srinagar Surgery Department, revealed that he performed 1807 surgeries exclusively in private hospitals, whereas no such procedures were recorded at Government Medical College Srinagar.
Addressing the issue, the order mentioned, "...an evaluation of Dr. Hanief Dar's work under the ABPMJAY/AB PMJAY SEHAT Scheme by the State Health Agency, J&K, revealed that he has performed 1807 surgeries exclusively in private hospitals, with no procedures recorded under the scheme at GMC Srinagar"
Referring to the work-done report from GMC Srinagar, the Department mentioned that it confirmed that "an evaluation of Dr. Hanief Dar's work under the ABPMJAY/AB PMJAY SEHAT Scheme by the State Health Agency, J&K, revealed that he has performed 1807 surgeries exclusively in private hospitals, with no procedures recorded under the scheme at GMC Srinagar."
