2 on-duty Junior doctors attacked by mob after patient's death at Lucknow Hospital
Patna: In a disturbing incident that unfolded at the emergency ward of Prasad Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Lucknow, two on-duty junior resident doctors sustained serious injuries after a mob of 25-30, including attendants, allegedly brutally assaulted them over the death of a patient.
According to reports, the assailants not only targeted and assaulted the doctors but also attacked the nursing staff and vandalised hospital property, including the casualty room and a medical trolley.
A video of the incident that went viral on social media shows the brutal attack on the doctors in the emergency ward, while other patients and their attendants appear visibly panicked amidst the chaos.

The two junior doctors have been identified as Dr Robin Chatterjee and Dr Shubham Jagdale. They were on duty when the mob brutally attacked them, and now they are undergoing treatment for their injuries.
The incident occurred on Tuesday around 10:15 PM after a patient named Ravi passed away during treatment. Upon receiving the news, the patient's relatives confronted the doctors. Engraved with anger and grief, they soon turned violent, attacking the doctors and hospital staff while blaming them for the patient’s death.
According to a written complaint submitted to the police by Dr. Shailesh Yadav, Principal of Prasad Institute of Medical Sciences, the mob also damaged the curtain, medical trolley, and several other items in the casualty ward.
The police have been informed about the incident, and an action against the assailants in this regard is pending as no arrests have been made so far.
Reacting to the matter, several doctors on the popular social media platform 'X' condemned the violence against the two doctors and nursing staff and expressed their concern over the rising attacks on healthcare professionals.
A doctor going by the name 'Indian Doctor' tweeted ", The attack highlights concerns about safety and security for medical professionals in India. Kindly take strict actions & provide securities @Uppolice @PMOIndia @myogiadityanath"
Another doctor said, "I urge everyone to write the name of the college PIMS. This is the worst college for students. The dean of the college is a sadist, he is so toxic, he doesn't spare anyone. No one should take admission in this college. They shut down the residents from protesting and even putting up stories."
Incidents of violence against doctors and healthcare workers continue to raise serious concerns nationwide, with Medical Dialogues frequently reporting multiple such cases, but no strict law has been implemented in this regard yet.
Speaking to Edexlive, Dr Vinod Sharma Bagra, National President, All India MBBS Doctors Association (AIMDA), said, “The recurring incidents of violence against doctors are becoming more concerning. How are doctors supposed to do their work properly when we are constantly threatened?”
