25 year old AIIMS Nagpur Dermatology medico found dead

Nagpur: In a tragic incident, a first-year dermatology postgraduate student at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Nagpur was found dead in her flat in the Sonegaon area.

The student was reportedly was the daughter of senior IPS officer.

According to police officials, the incident appears to be a case of suicide. The medico, who had reportedly been under stress for the past few days, was discovered by her roommate on Tuesday evening after the flat was found locked from inside. When an alternate entry was accessed, she was found hanging from the ceiling fan, following which the police were alerted.

Speaking to PTI, the police informed, "A first-year dermatology student at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has allegedly committed suicide in her flat in Sonegaon area in Nagpur."

The 25 year old medico, daughter of IPS officer currently posted as CRPF deputy inspector-general in Pune, was found dead in her flat in Manjira Apartments, Shiv Kailash on Tuesday evening, the police added

"Prima facie, it seems to be a case of suicide. She was reportedly under stress for the past few days. Her roommate found the flat locked from inside. After gaining access to the flat from another entry, she found Samruddhi hanging from the ceiling fan and then alerted police," the official further informed PTI

"Panchnama was conducted and post mortem report is awaited. We are also speaking to her friends to find out more details of the chain of events," he added.

Medical Dialogues had reported in August this year that an MBBS intern at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Nagpur, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a shawl inside the bathroom of his hostel room.

A suicide note was recovered from the scene; however, the contents have not been disclosed by the police, making the reason behind the student taking the extreme step unclear. The student’s mobile phone has been seized for forensic and digital analysis.
