25-year-old Homeopathy doctor ends life after being cheated on matrimonial website

As per The Bridge Chronicle news report, the incident took place after the doctor had turned to a matrimonial platform in search of a life partner. There, she connected with the accused, who had falsely presented himself as unmarried and conveyed his intention of marriage. Following this, the doctor began interacting with him and eventually met him in person at a hospital in the Dehu area.

Although her family initially rejected the match due to concerns about his behaviour, the accused persisted and convinced the victim of his intent to marry her. Over time, he allegedly extorted a sum of Rs 10 lakh by giving various excuses. Shortly, an argument erupted between them when the doctor asked the accused about their marriage and the money. On this, the accused later revealed that he was married and his wife was pregnant.  

Devastated and heartbroken over the issue, the doctor allegedly committed suicide at her clinic on January 7. Upon discovering her condition, she was rushed to a hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead on January 8 despite medical treatment. 

Following her death, the father of the deceased held the accused responsible for her death and filed a complaint against him. Later the police registered a case and initiated an investigation. 

Speaking to The Daily, the father said, “He deceived my daughter by hiding his marital status. He came to visit her in the hospital while she was undergoing treatment, but we could not take any action at the time due to the situation. We demand justice for our daughter.”
