26 year old BHU medico commits suicide by anaesthesia overdose
Varanasi: In an unfortunate incident, a 26 year old medico from the Department of Anaesthesia at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) allegedly committed suicide after administering an overdose of anaesthesia medication to himself.
His body was found inside his room at the university's Sushrut Hostel, located on the sixth floor. Police recovered a cannula and medicines beside his body.
A three-page suicide note was recovered from the room, which mentioned, "Please take care of my parents too. I was their biggest hope. But I could not live up to their expectations. Life goes on. Perhaps this news will break my mother. She loves me the most. Take care of my father and sister, too. I was the apple of their eyes. As I am writing this, I don't know whether I should change my decision or not. Perhaps I don't want to die, but still I will do this. I am perhaps the most selfish person. Not worthy of living on this earth. It may be that people like me are born only to cause pain to others."

"Mother, Father and Sister, please forgive me. I wish I could hear your voice one last time. Everyone, take care of yourselves. Throughout my life, I kept running away from reality. Today I am running away forever. Nothing in this world is permanent. I now understand that I will never be able to live that life. Which I had dreamed of. We all dream of a completely happy life. But perhaps this is not possible for anyone. Life is very short. Don't make it shorter by laughing at others' sorrows. Be kind to everyone and be grateful for what you have. World, goodbye," the note added.
The incident came to light on Sunday night when the doctor, who had last been seen by colleagues on Saturday, did not respond to calls or messages. When his colleagues suspected something was wrong, they reached the doctor's room.
When there was no answer to their calls, they contacted the university's Proctorial Office and police. When the door was opened, he was found lying on the floor. A medicine drip was attached to his hand. When police searched the room, a 3-page suicide note was found. The forensic team also collected evidence.
The police informed his family members and reached the hospital, where the medico declared him dead. The body was sent for a post-mortem.
Lanka Police Station In-charge Rajkumar Verma told Dainik Bhaskar, "Upon receiving information from the Proctorial Board, the in-charge of Nagwan outpost was sent to the spot. A suicide note was found in the room, the contents of which will be investigated. For now, the body has been taken into custody and kept in the mortuary. The family members have been informed. Students living in nearby rooms have been questioned."
