Hyderabad: A total of five unqualified medical practitioners, including a BHMS (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery) doctor, were allegedly practising allopathy illegally at private clinics, identified during surprise inspections by the Telangana Medical Council (TGMC).

These individuals were found prescribing allopathic medicines, including antibiotics, painkillers and steroid injections to patients without having an MBBS degree or a valid licence from the state medical council. They were operating clinics in the Amberpet and Saroornagar areas.

What came as a shock was that the doctor, despite holding a homoeopathy degree, was prescribing allopathic medicines to patients without proper knowledge of correct dosages or the risks involved. This doctor was running a private clinic in Amberpet.

Meanwhile, the team cracked down on two other quacks in Amberpet - one with a BSc degree who was running Sri Srinivasa Medical & General Store and Clinic at Patel Nagar, and another with a BAMS degree who was operating Sai Saketh Clinic at Prem Nagar.

In Saroornagar, two more unqualified practitioners were found. Sree Venkateshwara Clinic was being operated by Naveen (BSc) at Lingojiguda, while KSR Speciality Clinic was found to be run by V Kalidas (MSc) at Bhagat Singh Nagar.

The inspections were carried out by TGMC Vice Chairman, Dr G Srinivas and Vigilance Officer, Dr Rakesh, on Friday.

Speaking to Telangana Today, Dr Srinivas said, "Such illegal practice severely endangers public health, causing kidney failure and increasing antimicrobial resistance. We will file cases against them under NMC and TGMC Acts. Our fight against such illegal centres will continue."

“These five individuals were found to be practicing allopathy without the necessary qualifications,” said an official from TGMC.
