Doctor Killed in Tragic Road Accident in Kalahandi district
Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a well-known retired doctor lost his life after his car collided with a parked truck in Odisha’s Kalahandi district.
According to the news reports, the deceased has been identified as retired Dharmagarh SDMO Dr Harischandra Padhan (80). He was travelling from Bhawanipatna to Dharmagarh when the car he was driving rammed into a parked truck near Baldiamal under the jurisdiction of Junagarh police station.

Locals immediately rushed to the spot and shifted him to Junagarh hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The driver of the vehicle sustained injuries and was rushed for medical treatment.
Upon being informed, police have reached the scene and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident, reports Ommcom News.
Preliminary reports suggest that poor visibility and road conditions may have contributed to the collision. The truck driver is being questioned, and further details are awaited, reports Argus.
The untimely demise of the doctor has left the local community in deep shock, with many mourning the loss of a dedicated medical professional.
According to the Pragativadi, Dr. Padhan served Dharmagarh with commitment and compassion. Colleagues described him as a disciplined professional who prioritised patient care. His sudden death in a road accident shocked many who admired his contribution to healthcare in the region.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns over road safety in the region.
