The stolen items include multiple diamond-studded gold necklaces, bracelets, bangles, rings, gold coins and biscuits weighing over 200 tolas, silver ornaments weighing about 700 grams, and Rs 45 lakh in cash. The burglars also took away the CCTV DVR. The total value of the stolen items has been estimated at Rs 1.47 crore.
The theft took place at the doctor’s residence in Manekbaug Society, Ambawadi, while the house was locked for several days. The ophthalmologist, who runs an eye hospital in Maninagar, had left for Dubai with his wife and son early Monday morning, reports The Daily.

Before leaving, the family had kept gold and silver jewellery along with cash in iron safes and concealed lockers located in the first-floor bedrooms. The keys to these lockers were stored separately in another unused locker.
As per the TOI media report, the robbery came to light on Friday morning at around 6 am when the family returned home. On entering the house, the doctor noticed a bag lying open on the sofa with documents scattered around. When he tried to check the CCTV footage, he found that the DVR was missing.
Further inspection revealed that robbers entered the house by breaking the stopper of a wooden window near the main door and tampering with the iron grille. On checking the first-floor bedrooms, the family found that the cupboards and safes had been broken open, and that valuables were missing.
Following this, the doctor immediately informed the police control room. Upon receiving the information, the Satellite police personnel reached the spot and conducted a preliminary inspection. Forensic teams were also called to collect evidence.
A case has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway.
